UCONN goes down again…

UConn could easily start a lineup of Bueckers, Fudd, Ducharme, Patterson and Juhasz...and then there's Aliyah Edwards and freshman Brady coming off the bench. She could be sitting in the same spot at the end of the bench next to Piath again next season. I would bet money that Piath moves on, and wouldn't be surprised if DeBerry follows her out the door.
Brady would start before Patterson, imo. Brady already posses a refined offensive repertoire. She only has to improve her conditioning to division 1 level.

i feel like that's rinse, cycle, repeat of what we said about ONO and her need for physicality and it hasn't come to fruition yet. They have the All Big10 player who i would think would be a starter next year inside and he may go with a 4 out 1 in type with Azzi and Paige both being able to play

I'm just speculating. I don't know who is definitely returning for them. For instance, is that former Big 10 player definitely coming back next year ? I'm not even sure who's coming back for the LV's, much less for a team out of our conference.

They are still making Final Fours and getting Top 5 recruits. The BY was saying that game had past Pat by during the early to mid 2000s championship drought and after her last championship run. She was still great enough to make it to the NC title game a couple of times in that drought and she considered to be washed up according to the BY.
Pat was always great at changing when it was needed. She would go watch other teams to learn about innovative defenses etc. Unfortunately we will never know when the effects of Alzheimer’s had started to impact her. She definitely was not herself for quite a while before she announced her diagnosis. What a cruel disease. You would think just for the humanity of the situation Connies would lay off Pat.

Ok here's a question for the forum: of former UConn players who transfered out of the program, how many have seen success at their new schools (EDD doesn't count)? How many got drafted? Similarly, how many UConn bench riders have been drafted?

Well I gotta tell yah. UConn isnt the team right now that many of us thought they would be. Injuries Covid and many times not having enough players to run a practice. Right now for tomorrow nites game against Seton Hall we have 6 players who will play maybe DeBerry and Gabriel off the bench. We are down to 2 guards. As I see it Christyn Williams most likely not play due to Covid protocal, Azzi Fudd is still rehabbing although she may be back within a week, Aubrey Griffin is out for the season and Paige will be out until the middle of February. What does that mean for the LV's? Most likely an easy victory. The injuires and Covid have interrupted practices as well as games and lineups. You cant work on much if you cant field a team for practice and when you can field a team its a different lineup way to often. The only hope to salvage the season is getting everybody back by mid February, working hard to rebuild chemistry continuity confidence and execution and then make a run in the NCAA

BTW Lucy Alzheimers is a terrible disease. It runs in my family. I have 3 daughters 1 wife and a mother in law and they have had me see doctors to help with me not getting that horrid disease. FWIW I got an autographed Picture from Pat just a few years before she died. I also spent alot of time talking with one of your ole posters (Jumpin Jack Flash) Bob Goddard. We became good friends while he was sick and Keith Richards lives about 7 minutes from my home.

Natalie Butler went from UConn to George Mason and ended up being drafted in the third round by the Dallas Wings (rarely played at UConn and started at Georgetown) Samarie Walker also had a good career after leaving UConn and heading to Kentucky. I think Walker's size had more so to do with her not making it to the WNBA as she was an undersized 4/5 player. Those are the two I remember right off.

@LVsinceJV and what about Andra Espinoza-Hunter. She has seemingly thrived since transferring. She found a role at Ms St but then a bigger one at Seton Hall

Yeah she's pretty noteworthy. Decided riding Geno's bench wasn't worth it. I wonder how Coombs will do in the draft (I believe she's a senior? Not sure)

Hey don't let that bar hit you in the head while you're lowering it OK? Ya'll gonna have that bar so low by Feb 6 the LVs will have to limbo under it. Want to trade injured player lists?

However, any post that can pair Pat and Keith Richards in the same paragraph deserves some respect. If you bump into him, ask him if that snorting his father's ashes thing is true.

I don't think UConn has had "star" players transfer. Usually, it's the ones buried at the end of the bench. Mike already mentioned Samarie Walker, who is probably the best one. Courtney Elkmark was a starter for ASU and had a good career (but not good enough for the W). Andra Espinoza Hunter had a solid year at MSST and transferred again to Seton Hall and is their leading scorer. Lexi Gordon did well at Tex Tech and is now at Duke. Mikayla Coombs is starting at UGA. These are all players in fairly recent years. I'm sure Poffenbarger will also do well at Arkansas.

Tony hope all the UCONN players make a full recovery. Always sorry when players have injuries. Glad you have Coach Summitt's autographed photo. What a treasure for someone who loves women's college basketball.

I agree and I am really shocked Paith didn't leave already, I wonder how much of it has to do with her brother, you would think she could go where he played and get a lot of minutes next season.

I don't think Piath Gabriel and others like her are too concerned with playing time. I think what a lot of us fail to realize is that a lot of these kids go into a situation knowing they might not get much if any playing time their entire college career, and they are just fine with that. Most of these ladies are never going to make a living playing basketball nor even play competitive ball again once they leave school. I think a lot of kids are just fine being a part of celebrated program even if their participation is mostly limited to playing in practice and cheering their team on from the bench. I'm sure the free college tuition is enough for quite a lot of them.

Maybe that's true for Piath, but I bet that's not the case for DeBerry. She wants to play in the WNBA, and she won't get the audition if she's limited to high fiving along the bench whenever Paige or Azzi hits a three.

I fully agree on DeBerry and wasn't talking about her. I seriously doubt her plans are to be in that boat!

Ppl who kept saying Uconn will be great when they all come bk is funny. When u have injury it's not easy to come bk and play the same especially during tournament time. They finds it difficult to win us when they were complete and Davis was with us. I wish them all healthy and would want to see all of them in line up. Woman game is no more easy for Geno that's wat some ppl dosen't understand.

TC, I’m so sorry to hear Alzheimers has afflicted your family. That is quite a burden to bare. I hope you have continued good health. With all those females doting on you I know you are well looked after!! I have an autographed basketball from Pat and it is among my favorite momentos.

The ruling comes one day after UConn's athletic department reported that its budget deficit rose from $43.5 million to $47.2 million in the 2021 fiscal year. Irvings ruled that Ollie is due $11,157,032.95 within the next 10 business days, Parenteau said.

WOW, that would make it another $11,157,032.95. a little over 58.3 million. What will UCONN do?
