I just hate how pro UConn Doris Burke is, everyone else tries to be neutral even if its their former program (Kara, Lobo, etc.) UConn can do no wrong in her eyes

won four straight national titles or somesuch. There are no negatives with that program.

Ya'll talking about bad reffing you should be watching this Texas vs Stanford game. Also in the years I've been watching UConn play they have always improved in the areas they were bad in in November. So unless you expect them to be this bad in March then you haven't been watching much women's ncaa tourney basketball the last 10 years.

Yes The officiating in that game is horrible and Geno is the master at making adjustments although his assistants didnt let him know/remind him late in the 4th that Chong and Nurse had 4 fouls

They will lose a lot of games this year. They are very small, don't rebound well, and don't have the defensive intensity of past teams. They lost too much to graduation.

What do you consider a lot? For UCONN..... 4 is a lot. UCONN looked average, at best. Certainly they looked beatable. Maybe this year the NCAA Committee will put TENN and UCONN in the same bracket to build up some drama. Better get them this year because they will be loaded from 2017 and beyond.

I thought they would lose three or four games. They want lose any in their conference because the second best team is probably Temple ranked around number 40.

scary thing is, those young girls of UConn will not choke. You'll have to beat them every trip up the court. kudo's to FSU for giving us hope though.

pump the breaks son......they may not go 35-0, but 25+ wins and final 4 will be in their sights. They are still far ahead of anyone else. Well see what they have against Baylor

just my gut but I think that is the closest game UConn plays all year. Another unbeaten season. :(

I know Uconn has Geno and they still have a good team but I don't see them beating South Carolina or Baylor. They are weak n the post.

No way. I and most UConn fans see this as a 3 to 5 loss season. Making the final four would be a HUGE achievement for this team. This will be a better team in March than they are now, but frankly I see ND, Baylor and SC being too much for this team, certainly at this time. This team will however be a hard nosed, gritty, high effort, never say die team. UConn fans will know more after Thursday.

Very true. Geno is a master at developing his players and toughening them up mentally (or else they leave the program). He's not insistent on winning games this early and will sacrifice early season games to improve the team come March. I see 3 or 4 losses for UConn this season. Final Four is a reasonable expectation (given his history) and anything further than that is gravy. But I have no idea why they were ranked first in the preseason Coaches Poll.

I agree with all posters who say 3-4 losses for them this season.... weak in the post yes.... Williams is a nationally ranked high jumper but the masses inside Baylor and SC can bring will wear on them.... Conn had better be great at the point if they want to do anything great

And even though they'll have a top 3 recruiting class coming in next year, it's all guards and wings. I certainly wouldn't count them out for a Final 4 run the next two years, but it's hard to imagine a team with virtually no help in the post competing for a national championship.

Travis, you probably missed the Azura Stevens transfer who will be playing in the 17-18 season for UCONN. She is 6'6" and if Butler completes her eligibility next season, she is 6'5". Pretty stout back line.

Isn't Stevens more of a wing, even with her height? Her build is certainly not that of a post, though I guess she did average over 2 blocks per game and nearly a double-double last year.

She's play the 5 on Defense and the 4 on offense kind of like Stewie did (Tuck she would play the 5 on offense), Camara (the transfer from Kentucky) will play the 5 on offense, it will be interesting to see who comes off the bench though

Mlindsay, thanks for the info. My senior brain totally forgot about Camara.

Camara ain't starting.

Likely be Dangerfield, Nurse, Samuelson, Collier, Stevens.

Williams, Walker, Camara and Butler off the bench if he decides to go 9 deep. Walker probably takes Nurse spot the following year as a starter. I hope Christyn Williams looks elsewhere. The earliest she would start at UConn is her Sophomore year, and thats if Coombs, Gordon, etc do not develop.

I expect one or 2 of the guards/wings (outside of Walker) to transfer.

Think back to the 2014 class with Williams, Nurse, Ekmark and Edwards. All 2/3 type players. Sure, neither Edwards or Ekmark lived up to their rankings, but I always knew at least 1 would transfer.

Never said she was starting, I listed her as someone they would still have to play the Post should Butler not stay. I also listed her stating that Stevens doesn't necessarily have to play the Center spot, she could play the 4 on offense and the 5 on Defense. I also don't think she starts either. but we shall see.

I also think a few players transfer as well (Molly Bent will probably be the first guard to do so as I don't see her playing much when the others arrive). But we shall see.
