UF major sports containment thread

We did pretty good at LSU
I know. I corrected myself later on that day back in April. That was an awesome day. However, we sucked at Pitt, UGA and South Carolina doesn’t need to be talked about anymore . I stand by what I said that I don’t think we are going to go in there and blow their doors off. I hope I’m wrong.

Yeah. I didn't really catch that I was replying to an April thread until after I posted. Oh well. We actually went to LSU game first time ever at Baton Rouge, so that one kind of stuck in my head.

That one would stick with me too! That’s the way I felt when I went to UGA in 04 and 06.

I just read on SDS that Mertz has two years of eligibility left. that does change my opinion for Florida in '24 a bit. I thought he was gone for sure and they just had the freshman. now I could easily see them in the battle for 3rd in the east, and probably the favorite.

Us fans look for significant improvement in '24, and to be firmly in the national picture in '25, especially with the 12 team playoff process that year.

I need to be convinced an extra year of Mertz is a good thing.

I think its better than the alternative. even if he is just the back up to the freshman, yall having NOTHING left.

-I also realized after posting that, that I was quoting SDS, so it might not even be correct information, but I don't care enough to fact them.

Should have clarified I need convincing an extra year of Mertz starting is a good thing.

Next year he can hold a clipboard watching Lagway, charting plays on his way to eventually being OC at some D3 college.

Did I mention I’m not sold on Mertz…at all?

Don't worry. I am sure we will still let him put up over 400 yards of offense and way too many TDs against us. It will be worse if yall have to play a back up *shudders*

Brutal article

This actually made me laugh:
-"Lost to SEC tomato can Vanderbilt." I knew they lost to Vandy, but using tomato can as a descriptor is hilarious to me.
this one also hurts: "The Gators had 21 carries for 13 yards " granted Utah is a pretty good defense, but Florida will face better in the SEC.

I thought they had something early in the game, mixing things up with Mertz running every once and while. But it seemed like as soon as Florida found something that worked, they went away from it. There was another time they got going running, then after a first down or two they started throwing and stalled the drive. I still really don't think Florida has a talent problem, except maybe the OL which is a big hole, but their coaches continue to leave me scratching my head. Not sure better players are going to make a huge difference.

Gata didn't want to show all their cards.

No personal offense to the Florida fans here at Volnation, but here‘s to hoping you get to experience 15 years in the Wilderness like we just did. It builds „character“.
Endeavor to persevere friends 😉

Assuming last night didn’t change your mind on Mertz…

Lol.... 😅 Hey, look on the bright side. While you have national championships in football, you're in rare company in the SEC with Kentucky and Arkansas winning championships in basketball. Just saw the UCF score. 😳
Please beat USCjr tommorrow....I can't wait to shut up those cockadoodle dummies in Neyland this year...I hope Maye throws for 700 yards and 6 td's against them.

So do the Gators hire Coach Prime or Kiffin when they fire Napier in early November?
