UF's Frazier out Tuesday

Rarely do I like much of what you say, because its always about grammar correction, but this one, I give you credit for. Clever. +1 :good!:

Thanks. Couldn't help but think of that one when I saw the name Frazier. Being old has its advantages; for one thing, being around for a long time gives you plenty of historical references to draw upon. Actually, very few of my posts have to do with grammar or spelling corrections. I usually comment only on the painfully obvious mistakes or the really ugly ones and I try to do so in a humorous way instead of trying to be a pain in the ass about it. I do realize that not everyone is completely sober when he posts a thread on the site. That’s what makes some of them so laughable.

Takes away their best perimeter shooter of late.
It may be Kenny time.
if he plays the defensive game of his career (he's due and primed) against Murphy (second best of late), I'll be salivating at the half.

They've been dealing w/ injuries and juggling their (8 man) rotation all season, hasn't kept them from winning --- 22-4 / 12-2.

You don't even know your own team.
It was sarcasm.

Wilbekin is our best defender, and it's honestly not even close. He's one of the best perimeter defenders in the country. Yeguete is our most productive rebounder and our most versatile defender (he can guard all three frontcourt positions).

I guarantee you anyone that follows that team will say that Yeguete is Fla's best defender. He's their glue guy. Fla could afford to lose Wilbekin because they have backcourt depth. They don't have frontcourt depth.

I'd say this article sums up his loss pretty well.

No. 2 Florida's Yeguete out for regular season | www.palmbeachpost.com

Yeguete, usually the first player off the bench, is averaging 6.0 points and 6.3 rebounds this season. The Frenchman also is the team's best frontcourt defender.

He's a tenacious rebounder and has a knack for taking charges, making steals and playing the kind of help defense that has Florida ranked third in scoring (52.4 points a game).

Yeah, sure.

We couldn't afford to lose Wilbekin... He's the only point guard getting any playing time. Take him out, and Boynton is our point guard.

Here's another article:

I'm not diminishing what Yeguete does for us... He's our best rebounder and post defender. He's an energy guy that does all of the little things and dirty work. But Wilbekin is our best defender. Period.

Ask Donovan who is the best defender. He has said it before about Yeguete. Maybe you missed that.

That article also failed to mention that Yeguete was also the missing piece last year. He got hurt and missed the final 9 games of the year. Fla went 4-5.

Just as Donovan has said many times, Yeguete is the glue guy. And why is the perimeter defense better? Because of Yeguete.

Will Yeguete's Injury Puts Florida's Championship Hopes on Hold - Busting Brackets - A College Basketball Fan Site - News, Blogs, Opinion, and More

One of the staples to Florida’s extended, overplay 2-3 zone, Yeguete’s value isn’t reflected in his stat sheet alone. His floor presence has a ripple effect on the rest of the team. The Frenchman provides a safety blanket on the last line of defense which enables Kenny Boynton, Scottie Wilbekin and Mike Rosario to cheat up on perimeter ballhandler and stake chances in the passing lanes. The Gators are one of the nation’s top teams at forcing turnovers, and though Yeguete doesn’t rack up the steals all himself, he’s one of the secret ingredients behind the game-changing recipe.

Link?

He's said Yeguete is a great and versatile defender. He's also said that Wilbekin is a great defender and is on par with the best perimeter defenders we've had during his tenure. I'm not sure if he's stated that Yeguete is the best defender on the team, though. Same goes for Wilbekin.

Our perimeter defense sucked last season even when Yeguete was healthy. Wilbekin is the difference in our defense. Replacing a defensive liability like Erving Walker with one of the best perimeter defenders in the country is going to make your defense a helluva lot better.

I'm not sure why saying that Wilbekin is our best defender is so controversial. Yeguete is a great defender as well, and he does other things well also (like rebounding), but imo Wilbekin is our best defender. Easily.

He said it last year after they lost him. I read some write-ups this year where the writers said the same thing. Anyone that has followed that team knows that Yeguete has been their best defender when healthy and does all the dirty work. He rebounds, plays terrific defense and help defense. As numerous articles have stated, and I linked two of them, he also does things that don't show up in the stat column. Watch what the beat writers say that watch every game and the national columnists that watch a lot of games say. They say the same thing.
