Actually I think potentially the most worrisome thing (for Vol fans) this article suggests is this being a UGA team that perhaps plays to the level of the given opponent. In most cases teams can't consistently turn it on and off like that, but traditional SEC rivalries (& there's none bigger than this) are an entity all their own. How many of us thought Bama was a small bug to be squashed as an afterthought before last weekend?...they rose to the occasion and looked very good for the most part against UF. We see this all the time, SEC teams playing over their heads thanks to the passion of rivalry.
I think it's way too naive for any of us to think that, because of our performances against Marshall and Memphis, that we're all but a shoe-in against the dawgs. Like the rest of you, I hope those games were a sign of things to come. I did notice a few things that I feel were very refreshing and different, particularly from the offense, such as continuing to hurl downfield with a 27-7 lead. Not that I'm a proponent of running it up, but when can you really be sure a game is out of reach? This is one more thing I love about Cut...he learns from his mistakes (a la Florida). He recognized it, fixed it. Randy Sanders never learned from his mistakes!
Anyway, point being, I feel like there's such a desparate collective desire for us to redeem ourselves after last year and be among the upper eschelon in the SEC again, that we may be putting our team on too high a pedastel after these last 2 wins.
There are few that love Big Orange Football more than me - I have followed them wholeheartedly since I was 6 years old (that's 31 years!); I have laughed and, yes, cried with them on a number of occasions; I LOVE UT Football, but my faith is not blind; I think it is likely UGA will look better against us than they have all year. That said, I feel very strongly we are capable of beating them and possibly handily if we get rolling, but until the scoreboard says we won the game, I am cautiously optimistic.
GO BIG ORANGE!!!!!!!!!!!!
