UGA would've gotten spanked by Oregon, too...

And their offense will fizzle, as well, when they have to play Florida. I do think our offense looks much worse than what it really is, simply because we have played the best offense in College and the best defense. Plus, Oregon's defense > UGA's.

Had it not been for turnovers, we probably would have come out of the Swamp with a W. It's like that old adage, "it's never as good as it seems and never as bad as it seems." I do believe this team is MUCH better than what we give them credit for. Our main problem is that we simply haven't gotten SEC caliber play from our QB position, and in the SEC, one big weakness can be the difference in W's and L's.

UGA is close to having 2-3 losses already, so I don't see them as being a juggernaut, by any stretch of the imagination. If the staff can develop Worley enough to simply be efficient (like Daryl Dickey was in 85), this can be a good SEC team.

We may not have a lot of experience at WR, but we definitely got more size and talent than most teams do, so, I'm not as concerned about them as most are.
We will all be here for you Saturday night.

UT has a shot vs UGA. UT is improving. UGA has defensive issues.

The big problem is that UGA has the talent to force UT to beat them passing. They have the O firepower to make things ugly if the O doesn't score points and absorb some clock.

FWIW, yes, Oregon would have beaten UGA pretty bad too.... and UF... and possibly Bama. Bama's D isn't quite what it was. Oregon's O has never been better.

So UT is improving because their young, inexperienced players are experiencing a learning curve, but UGA has defensive issues because their young, inexperienced players are experiencing a learning curve.

Solid, solid logic.

What purpose does it serve to start a post like this? Who cares what other teams would have done. Last I checked this board was about the TN Vols. The fact is the Vols are a bad team,GA is not.

I've just accepted what this year is going to be
No you haven't because you do not KNOW what this year is going to be. You THINK you know... and are treating it as a foregone conclusion. For people who prefer REAL facts.... your negative assumptions are pretty unappealing.

I'll still be in orange watching the games Saturday. You can't hope a win into existence though, especially when there's such a talent disparity.

No. You play wins into existence which is why you play even when the probabilities are against you.

If UT beats UGA, it would be nowhere near the biggest upset of this season much less history.

Do they? Which game have they played demonstrates that?

They were giving up under 20 points a game going into the UGA game and they are very talented. Auburn and the TCU game.

Never said that. I would say that UGA's D did not look appreciably better vs LSU or UNT as it did Clemson. In fact, I think they looked worse. They replaced 9 starters if I remember correctly plus a couple more from their two deep. That's a pretty tough draw even if you have a lot of talent on the roster. Now they've lost a Fr DB who was playing well... with Richt saying he's unsure how to replace him.

UGA is in a learning curve somewhere but it does not appear to be sloped steeply upward so far this year.

TCU is 100th in total O. TTU held them to 10 pts.

Aub is better at 49th but they reall haven't played a good D except for LSU.

Why? Have I said they "would" win? Have I said they are "likely" to win?

What exactly is it with some of you that you can only handle thinking that yields a yes/no answer even before the facts are all in?

We can both accept that this could be a tough season... but for you... that isn't satisfactory. You must think they WILL have a tough season.

Neither does ours. We just gave up 24 points to a football program that didn't exist when I graduated high school. I'm 24. The only thing this defense has done better than last year is turn the ball over. But what good is that if your offense can't capitalize? I would love to see the points off turnover stat for our squad compared to the rest of the nation. I bet it looks pitiful. Meanwhile, it's taken us 5 games to get the QB to throw for more than 200 yards, and every time we start running the ball well we abandon it. Our recievers are so horrible at route running that our featured reciever is a freshman who is the only kid on the team who seems to be able to run consistent routes. Too bad he's dropped so many balls after running such crisp routes.

Glad you agree. LSU has a good D.

Sort of. They have talent. They have not played nearly as dominant as in past years.

They are hardly as "good" as your earlier post implied by anything they've shown so far this year.

Which, oh by the way, is one of the best defenses in the entire nation.

UGA was in a game with UNT until half. USA probably would run UNT off the field. There are games that will go that way. UT made some critical mistakes and had some bad breaks. The game should have been much more like 45-17... but things do happen that make games that should be lop-sided close... or even losses... aka the infamous Saban loss to ULM.

The only thing this defense has done better than last year is turn the ball over. .

I more or less agree about the D. They are stronger vs the run in the middle but give up the edges too often and have too many soft spots in the pass D. AJ keeps playing on passing downs and continues to be a liability in coverage.

I disagree about the O. Worley and the WR's are taking more chances. He's making better throws but making mistakes on reads. All are playing less apprehensive.

Worley made his best throws of the year last Saturday to Croom and Smith. If he can clean up the misses on the short stuff and keep making those throws downfield, the O will improve "suddenly"... though they've been coaching on those things since the spring.

What are these facts we are waiting to come in?

Almost half the season has been played, much of it against weak competition.

Oregon quit out of mercy. Florida scored a season high with a qb who never took a snap.

The starting qb was already benched.

There are signs everywhere

We can both accept that this could be a tough season... but for you... that isn't satisfactory. You must think they WILL have a tough season.

It's difficult to fathom any different given the play we've seen thus far from the offense. We struggle to protect the football and even get first downs, much less score. How can anyone reasonably predict we even hang with Georgia, Alabama, Oregon, etc. ? It gets sad week in week out to see the "facts" people present as reasons we're going to have a good chance, only to see us blown to bits. I think I speak for a good number of fans when I say it's just been tough and I'm ready to win again, I apologize that the product on the field over the last 5+ years has made me cynical.

Try the results of the game itself rather than conjecture?

You.... being you. A condescending jerk who relishes in crap like this. I could take the time to respond to those things... but you simply are not worth it or worthy of it.

It ain't fun dealing with the facts is it?

What I wrote was a fact, not condescension.

Florida did score a season high . Oregon did quit. Worley was benched.
