I would much rather play UConn than I would Notre Dame. I think we matchup better with UConn and I think Skylar Diggins is playing lights out right now. GBO!

I understand what you are saying. Of course, a coach would not want his/her players to feel this way, because in this instance, it's like you would be saying, "Hey girls, we are cheering for Baylor to beat the tar out of Louisville, so that they can beat us and then stop UCONN from winning #8, cuz Lord knows you aren't gonna beat them." I personally would rather get to the championship game against UCONN and lose. I would judge the state of my team better if we beat Goliath, than if we beat David, so to speak.

I agree with you on your main point about a true Lady Vols fan having a disgust for UCONN, and if it were announced tomorrow that next year they were forced to shut down the women's CBB program up there due to financial restraints, I would think it was Christmas morning all over again.
I don’t understand the hate mentality that exists in LV land. This enema, Griner dude, etc. stuff is just childish and frankly, gives Lady Vol fans a bad name. Every fan base has their wacko fans that need to be ignored, but there seems to be much more nastiness here, and on the Summitt, it’s almost mandatory.

I’d like to see the feud end. Limit the verbal barbs to good natured ribbing instead of the vitriolic bile. Enjoy the wins, lament the losses. This is entertainment, not life and death.

Some of life’s greatest pleasures can be derived from interaction with fans of other teams. It’s nice to meet people from around the country, to say nothing of invitations to stay at the houses of competitors during tournaments.

Wishing competitors out of existence is a bad idea. If teams start to refuse playing each other, that would be the end of the sport. As it is, by not being willing to play uconn, there are too many people saying it happened because Pat was afraid of getting beat. Frankly, I’m annoyed at Pat for not detailing her complaints about uconn because it makes the fear argument hard to combat. Put up or shut up and play them. Of course it’s too late for that now. At this point, only LV fans think Geno did anything wrong.

I have a family member who says the same thing and this annoys me. Personally, I don't want to cower away from anyone. Anywhere, anytime baby. I'd rather have a shot at the best team out there. Think of how huge it would be to take a team not even picked to win it's own conference and beat a team coached by Geno. It's not likely, but I say bring em' on. We ain't scurred! You want to be the best, you gotta beat the best.

This, this and more THIS!!

I don't get the candy ass mentality that we can't beat so and so because of (insert candy ass reason here).... It's an affront to everything Pat And this program have ever stood for. If we play UConn the Huskettes better bring their best. They'll need it.

I'm proud of all that Pat has done at Tennessee and I'm proud that Holly is following in her footsteps. I don't like UConn and I hope they get beat. But I'm not blind to the fact that Geno has been the best coach in women's basketball for quite some time. GBO.

Auri-enema is a damn cheater and Pat knows it. I would believe her before anyone else on that topic.

At this point seeds mean nothing, it boils down to who wants it the most. Two athletic teams take the court tonight. Our ladies need to have a good shooting night and the bigs need to run the floor well. Kamiko's leadership has been invaluable.

Get over it. Having teams you hate is as much a part of being a sports fan as pulling for your favorite team.

Looks like the winner of Notre Dame and UConn will claim the title. They want come out against Louisville or California like Baylor and Tennessee did. They will put their foot right on their neck from the start and it will be over quickly.

You sound like a casual sports fan of no particular team.
If you want to always be happy, go with the moment's winner. Go Notre Dame, Go Cal, Go uconn, Go L'ville. On Sunday, I'll refine my allegiance further. Then once more on Tuesday night. :good!:

UCONN up 10. Fears confirmed as Baylor loses, TN loses, and UCONN winning. Maybe Louisville can keep their streak alive but it'll take another upset.

Unless we have a miracle UConn will beat Louisville like a drum. They want come out lazy and uninspired like the Lady Vols and Baylor. They will come out intense and tough have to hope some how Louisville can hit 16 threes again and shoot 65 percent.

To get an open look, they will have to take the shots behind the half court line. Shoni won't think that's a problem.

Odds are high that Ct. will win its 8th title, tying geno with PS. I have sadly watched UT slip for several years, and railed about it, hoping to keep geno at bay, but the fact is he's been kicking butt while we flounder.

This is such a negavol post. Even if Geno wins his 8th title, we will be back and win some more. Gosh, it's not the end of the women college BB world if Geno wins the 8th title. There is a very good chance we will win more NCs soon and other teams will too.

I wouldn’t characterize it as negavol. It’s just reality. I suppose ignoring the real world is ok, except, eventually, the games have to be played.

I’d like to hear your reasoning as to why the LVs will be winning NCs soon. That’s not a realistic assessment in my opinion, whereas uconn is a heavy favorite this year, and they’ll only lose one starter (Faris), one bench and one hampered by chronic injury. They'll be much better next year.

Next year, the LVs will get some good players, but the main get, Mercedes is a big, and bigs usually take a year or two to develop, plus she needs to gain strength. So, I wouldn’t count on much improvement the next 2 years. I’d be satisfied if we do as well as we did this year.

The 2013 class is considered to be relatively weak, so 2014 will be key recruiting wise.

No doubt it is steadily getting more difficult to win NCs. Griner, the most dominant player in history only got 1 NC, even with Sims there the past 3 years. There is a lot more talent around and they are more widely disbursed.

It’s going to be difficult the next 3 years at least, to beat uconn. The 3 freshmen led by Breanna Stewart are already playing major roles and then there’s the All Americans, Dolson & Mosqeda-Lewis.

Coaching is going to be increasingly important. Getting the most out of each recruit will be a key to winning. It will be important for the LVs to do well quickly. Right now, we’re partially benefiting from Pat’s fame, but that will not last long.
