The new coaches polls are out. Fla is a 2 seed but ranked 13 in the country, but UK is now 10th in the country and they get a 4 seed? AND after kicking Fla's azz in the sec title game..

Way to go NCAA, glad we have such experts putting these things together.

I think they both should be 3's.

I'm tired of people acting like finishing 3 games higher in the regular season standings is meaningless.

People need to be honest about the real reason they are pissed.

It isn't seed. It's that florida is in a weak region and ky is in a strong region.

If florida was a 3 and byu was a 2 in the same region, they wouldn't be overseeded, but people would still be pissed

We got screwed with the worst draw for a 2-seed ever in 2008. At least we're not the only ones who get bad breaks from the Committee.

I thought UF was over-seeded last year too, FWIW. I thought UF was hoping to be among the last four in, and then they got a 10-seed.

Like I said, it's not the seed, but the draw. To make the final four (based on seed), they have to beat ucla, byu, and pitt.

You can't ask for a better opportunity.

Ky could be the 1 seed in their region and ohio state the 4 and it would be a more difficult path by far.

I think duke would trade florida seed for region right now with no hesitation.

I agree with the above. They should be 3s.

Yeah, they should both be 3's. Florida's road is a bit easier, but in the end you still have to win the games no matter who you play. I do think there are those in the selection comittee who love to have fun at others expense. For entertainment value I'm sure, this is the second year in a row they placed Calipari and Huggins in the same bracket. From what I understand, it was either WV or Louisville that would be a 4 or 5 in UK's bracket, which I'm sure was chuckled at as well.

Not saying that UK is the only one this happens to, but rather that the selection comittee contains some biased individuals who sometimes manipulate things in a certain way to satisfy their own agendas. Sometimes its little things such as seeding or opponents, or in some cases its actually breaking one off inside teams like Colorado.

However, all that being said, the tournament always manages to turn out great, and considering the state of other sports I wouldn't trade it or the format for anything.

So now I read that the selection committee already had UK as a 4 seed BEFORE the sec title game. If so, whats the purpose of the SEC title game? Win or lose it means absolutely nothing.

I think it's somewhat of an advantage to be slighted a bit on seeding. It's a great motivational tool for a coach to use for the players.

They had the seeds for FL/KY set before the SEC tournament played out. Reseeding them would have caused work and they were lazy. Neither team deserved a 2 seed. So they took the easy way out I guess.

There were several seeding head scratchers this year. From watching them try to explain themselves, it doesn't seem like they did much comparing of numbers and went off what "felt" right. And they obviously stopped watching basketball on Saturday.

i'd agree for the most part, but uk's seeding the last two years has been asinine at best

What did you want last year instead of that 1? A Zero? LOL.
Seriously, I take it you're upset of playing a road game against Cornell.
I thought the only team in that region that had a chance against you guys was WVU. I don't see what there was to be upset about.

This year, I agree. You should be a 3.

A VT fan here says that someone from Wake Forest was on the Committee in 2010 and voted to keep them out.

The purpose of the SEC title game is to win a championship. If Kentucky fans are so jaded that that means "absolutely nothing" to them, then that's further proof that they need to get out of the SEC and into a conference that's more in line with their priorities. There are at least half a dozen schools in the ACC and even the Big East that I'd love to swap you guys out for. Even if it would mean the loss of an automatic win on our football schedule every year.

The only time conference trinkets mean anything is if you win the Big East tourny, or the SEC in football. Other than that....its forgotten in 2 weeks. And you should be happy to have UK in the SEC. If not for UK and Fla, the SEC would have 0 basketball interest, you'd barely be televised outside the state and the SEC would be less relevant than Colonial conference.

If the SEC tournament is so meaningless, why do so many thousands of Kentuckians spend so much money to come watch it?

The fact is that you're just a bad fit for the conference. You're incompetent at the one sport everybody takes seriously, and you're good at a sport that maybe two and a half schools take seriously. The yearly UK attendance at the SEC tournament isn't evidence that your fans are so great; it's evidence that almost none of the rest of the conference gives a crap about basketball.

Shocking that a team that went 2-6 on the road in a garbage conference didn't get more respect. An obvious conspiracy.

UK has a great basketball following. UK fans filling the arena for the SEC tourny isnt because of this crappy conference, they fill arenas everywhere. Washington, Hawaii, NY...wherever. If its a neutral court they overwhelm the place.

As for the SEC title games being meaningless....its a game. Importance has nothing to do with going and watching. Considering that your arena is rarely full, I guess you dont understand.

With wins over UL, Notre Dame, Fla twice, Washington, and UT twice and ranked 10 in the country......most people, sports writers and coaches are shocked. But considering your lack of knowledge of the sport, I'm not surprised in your thoughts.
