Went to a Hooters here in Knoxville yesterday with a good bud from school who was back in town. About three or four hours before the UK v. UL game, there was already a drunk UK fan (with his family no less) obnoxiously yelling "C-A-T-S, Cats Cats Cats." Pretty much everyone just ignored him and, after the fifth or sixth time he shouted that out for everyone in the restaurant (and outside in the parking lot) to hear, no one even bothered to look at him anymore. Apparently his behavior was not an anomaly. Our server told us that he does that all the time. A regular.
Anyhow, it got me to thinking if Vols fans do similar things at random, specifically in other schools' hometowns (when the Vols aren't even playing the hometown or homestate team). Probably not, but then again, there is one in every crowd, so to speak.
Kentucky fans are the worst. The more I think of it, it's Duke, those Johnny-come-lately arrogant fools. Wait, no, it's UNC fans, the Pharisees of college basketball. Or, perhaps, there are outliers in every fan base that set a bad example and reinforce stereotypes.
And what do you mean by describing UNC as "the Pharisees of college basketball"? I'm making every attempt to understand that metaphor, but I still don't get it. Please enlighten me.
The metaphor is that Pharisees are very critical of others in inconsequential matters, while failing to see their own shortcomings. :whistling:
Sir, you just called out the entire Kentucky fan base. It's okay though. I know what you're suggesting now, although it probably took quite a while to figure out what you meant by designating UNC as "Pharisees" upon being questioned. The next time you go to a sports bar, I just hope there's someone there that will randomly yell, "Tar," hoping that the rest of the restaurant will reciprocate by yelling, "Heels." "Tar..." "...Heels." But that's null and void, because that will never happen. Whether it's in Lexington or bum-crap, USA.
