I just started a new job about 3 weeks ago working for a company that custom builds homes for people, and today I learned a horrible truth: the owner of my company is a die hard Florida Gator.

He went to Florida, he donates ten's of thousands of dollars to Florida every year, he takes his private jet to every football game, he has the gator logo stitched on the headrests of his 5 series BMW, he has a foyer named after him on the campus, and to top it off the colors he picked for the company are Florida Blue and Orange.

He randomly dropped in today (while the rest of us were doing the work of course) and he started talking about college football and I immediately sniffed him out as a Gator. All of my coworkers know I am a Tennessee fan and after he left they told me whatever I do, don't say anything bad about Florida or that I am a Tennessee fan. I told them I would have no fear in saying I am a die hard Vol For Life and a Gator Hater to the end.

But to think I still work for this guy...

I think I'm gonna be sick.

Sorry, I needed to vent and I figured you guys would understand...

I sure as hell wouldn't be intimated by anyone to not show my passion & love for my team.. NO gator fan is better than a TENNESSEE fan.. they're arrogant and NOT all that... I'd wear TENNESSEE orange everyday.. so what he thinks he's a big wig.. wipes his butt like everyone else........

Be proud to be a TENNESSEE VOL always!!!!!!!!!

GO VOLS..
GO BIG ORANGE ..

As long as you keep getting paychecks from him, let him support whoever he wants. Just add a few minutes to your lunch break.

I feel your pain. I had a real ass for a boss the past 10 years who was a UF fan. Every time we lost I had to listen to his mouth until last year....he finally got fired! I think this is why I hate Florida worse than Bama.

I couldn't work somewhere jorts are acceptable attire.

Snort!!!!!!!!!!!!! In this economy, you would do well to appreciate you have a job at all. As for the Gator boss, he's no different than a die hard well-moneyed Vols fan would be. So don't waste time being envious, the advice to be pleased he's giving support to a Vols fan via paycheck is payback enough.

If he has a private jet WTF is he doing driving a 5 series?

Could be he is semi smart. I say semi because I see no reason to flaunt your money. If I were to hit a $600 million jackpot tomorrow, not much would change except getting a darn good financial advisor for protecting as much from taxes as possible. I'm a Chevy guy now, I will still be a Chevy guy. My current 5 year old car has no problems so I'd not dump it for new fancy rig. The only real thing I'd probably do is move to a more rural area with a few acres to try my hand at small time farming. Oh yeah, buy season tickets yearly. Peace and quiet is nice.

I guess having a private jet isn't flaunting your money. :loco:

I just laughed about the flaunting your money part when he has a private jet. I get your point.

Well, he sure doesn't have to worry about traffic jams when heading for Florida. I never owned a jet but used to hang with some folks who had private planes. The upkeep on the darn things is downright expensive. Even if I had the money for it, I wouldn't do it. I do think at least the folks I knew, did it mostly for show and bragging rights. A few liked flying their own plane and had the attitude had about driving a nice they liked tinkering with and driving. It was just personal pleasure. They didn't insist on having the latest and greatest Learjet or something. I can understand that but never have liked showing off money. You just attract flies and stray dogs. Knowhutimen?

Yes indeed. I get it. You start flashing the cash and all sorts of trouble happens.

My new manager is a die hard UK fan. Blue, blue, blue is all he wears. Our first official outing was to the UK vs UT BB game last spring. It was so sweet. :)
