I think this a valuable edition to the thread. Pretty damning, if you ask me. But that's just my opinion.

Edit: It's a UNC grad driving to the would-have-been game in the same conditions Duke would have faced.
Oh me. It is amazing how much the youth of our country need to learn before they before they become responsible adults.
Not quite sure what you mean by that post. If you're referring to employment effects, I'm sure he's doing just fine. Probably has a lawyer job with a UNC grad. No worries there. If you're referring to age, he's older than I am: must be in his thirties (hardly what I would consider a "youth").
Fact of the matter is, spin it however they want, Duke played this storm to its advantage. Sure, it was re-scheduled a couple days before the Syracuse game, but like Duke knew that would be the case beforehand. Duke righteously botched this one and their fans ought to be ashamed.
I am just relaying that the conditions last night were as bad as the conditions were last week in Atlanta where thousands of motorist were stranded on the interstate for up to 24 hours. Women were giving birth in their cars in subfreezing weather and children had to stay overnight in their schools. I guess people approach conditions differently depending on their agenda.
UNC athletic director Bubba Cunningham said in a statement that Duke's bus couldn't make it to the Durham campus to pick up the Blue Devils for the 11-mile drive to Chapel Hill. He called the postponement "the best decision to make at this time" due to safety concerns.
yeah, great idea. Get there early so you can get stuck afterwards. Don't worry about the possibility of something bad happening, you can make it, so do it. Volprof's desire to see the game trumps everything else. How ridiculous. I hope you're not really a UT Professor. I'd be embarrassed to have my kid taught by you.
Volfanbill, personal insults aside, do you know that the forecast had been calling for these conditions around a week in advance? And do you also know that Chapel Hill has hotel accommodations? And I could be wrong, but I've heard that UNC personally offered to accommodate the Duke team and staff should they chose to make it in. Like I said, that may just be hearsay though.
And chances are that I've already corrupted your kid. Chances are they were probably eager to be corrupted anyhow. But, in case they weren't, I'll take hemlock, just like Socrates.
And to make it clear, Volfanbill (so that you know that when I corrupted your kid it was with the best intentions), I have no problem with the game being postponed. It's how Duke chose to postpone it that I have a problem with.
it's not a personal insult, it's calling it as it is. UNC agreed it was the best idea, Duke agreed to it, and by all reports, the bus couldn't get to the stadium. Why force the "accommodation" of the team just for a ball game? Why not wait until it's safe all around to make it happen?
I understand that, and that's a reasonable question. The fact is, however, that Duke had prior notice. And their classes were cancelled around noonish. No excuses, particularly when you consider that UNC played GT in Atlanta during the great ATL debacle. UNC planned ahead and braved it out.
And I'm not sure when you came into this thread, but please understand this: UNC had announced that they were allowing more students in. There stood to be somewhere between 15 to 20,000 students in the arena last night. All surrounding the lower deck.
by being informed their chartered bus can't make it? Yeah, what a piss poor way to make the decision.
and your point? Having those students made it easier for the chartered bus to get to Durham and get the team?
