it is time to incorporate Crompton into the offense ala Tim Tebow at Florida. I am not suggesting they use him in the same way, but I would like to see some involvement....

Where the heck did that come from Lex? Ainge is widely considered to be among the top five QBs in the nation. He's showing the leadership and patience one wants from the position. And now you want to start situation substitution at quarterback....

You puttin' Kentucky bourbon in your coffee again??

**Looks like the quotes function is screwy this morning too...

Did you guys miss the first half of the Bama game? I am beginning to hear rumblings. Ainge is not the second coming. He is a good QB. Don't be surprised when Crompton gets snaps, and people wonder how Ainge kept him on the bench for so long.

Did you miss the 2nd half when he came back and led our team to victory with a nonexistant running game? He had one bad half, and then he got over it and got a W.

We won't be seeing Crompton unless we are up big.

You are hearing "grumblings"....from whom?????

Ainge is 12th rated QB nationally with a passing average of 279 yards per game and a completion rate of 67.6%.

He is rated ahead of Quinn, Leak, and S Newton.

Crompton will not being seeing much of the field unless Tennessee goes up by 3 or 4 TDS.

I guess it's possible if Ainge has another half of football like he did in the first against Alabama... it's not that he was just missing due to pressure and so on, but the dreaded "mechanics" has been brought up...

Haha. This made me laugh quite hard. The Ainge-haters/Cromptonites have been waiting 7 games for something, anthing, a glimer of hope for their obviously misguided opinions. And, they are so desperate for anything that after 7 games of ammo-less football they leap at the opportunity to criticize one bad half of football out of 14 this season. They are so desperate that they have to choose this situation to criticize Ainge even though he played great in the 2nd half and led us to a victory.

Priceless...

I wonder if there is a QB out there that they can name that hasnt had one bad half of football this season? Not to mention it being a little rust after a bye week, as evidenced by his turnaround in the second half.

Its amazing how a guy throws for 300 yards in a win and supposedly there are "rumblings". There is no reason to give Crompton snaps at all. Ainge is the starter this year and next. Crompton doesnt bring anything different to the position...maybe a stronger arm, but Ainge has a pretty strong arm too.

Yep. Reminds me of the Coker haters/Hardestyites.

Remarkably, I am not an Ainge hater or a Cromptonite. I am simply calling for a little participation based on Crompton's abilities.

Ainge did not play a great second half in the Bama game by the way. He led one TD drive. One TD does not a great second half make.

Come on Lexy....
But even after a first half that looked much more like 2005 than anything he has done this season - 8-for-21 with three interceptions - Ainge responded by going 17-for-25 after intermission and engineering the game-winning drive in the fourth-quarter.

Find a different bone to pick friend...

So now we have resorted to Hal Mumme logic when it comes to evaluating our offense. Doesn't matter if you score, it is the yardage and completion percentage that really count.

Playcalling was the difference in the second half. Three step drops, let Ainge know where to go with the ball= success.

Allowing Ainge to be creative in the pocket or wing it= failure. Agian, Ainge is a good QB. He is not the hiesman candidate that some on this board like to think. He should buy Robert Meachem supper every night.

If Vinson pans out and Kirkendoll commits, I think UT will be fine at receiver. The QB situation seems to be stable at this point as well. I would be much more excited if these were defensive tackles and ends UT was pursuing.

As far as the QB situation goes, from what I am hearing, and after what I saw in the first half of the Alabama game, it is time to incorporate Crompton into the offense ala Tim Tebow at Florida. I am not suggesting they use him in the same way, but I would like to see some involvement.

If Ainge's ego can't handle it, then he needs to grow up.

Yes I think we need D & O line far more than QB but Ainge is the MAN now and as I see it Crompton is good but can be great if he is not thrown to the wolves too soon , and ho yes I have my cup near the screen could you spare a shot of that J. B.

Ainge should not be benched, one reason alone is that I have a man-crush on him.

Why am I unrealistic? My expectation is one that the players should play their best every game?

Is that not obvious, you should want to play your best every game but that is impossible.

Your expectation should be that you are going to play your best................

This offense has acheived a tremendous amount of success given the talent on the O-line. They have not fared quite as well against great defenses. Check all of my posts in this thread. I am simply saying the team should incorporate Crompton in a role that is not limited to mop up duty.

That being said, I find it comical that Ainge is mentioned for heisman trophy consideration when it is obviously Meachem that makes everyone on this offense better. This offense should have hung 28 points on Alabama. How many times did they cross the 50 without scoring?

I am also hearing that Crompton is progressing nicely. I am in no way advocating replacing Ainge. I would like to see this staff be proactive about keeping Crompton involved.
