Well, Mr. Greenjeans is going to be a fine quarterback, and I agree it would be nice if he could get more game snaps. But, let's be clear, this is Captain Kangaroo's team. He's leading the ship, and doing a fine job I think. leading the SEC in several key categories....

As to his not being able to adlib... I don't recall the exact moment in the game, but there was a third down in the second half where EA got flushed from the pocket... stepped up a bit... shuffled right.. and found Meach on the sideline for a great reception.
That is poise and experience right there. I want that on the field, not the sideline.

I see where you're going Lex, and I think there will be a time for Jonathon in the coming weeks...
:peace:

This offense has acheived a tremendous amount of success given the talent on the O-line. They have not fared quite as well against great defenses. Check all of my posts in this thread. I am simply saying the team should incorporate Crompton in a role that is not limited to mop up duty.

Let me just say that Crompton is not mop up duty, he's the backup. When Ainge is gone, Crompton wil get his chance, that's generally how the system works. Unless Crompton is playing better than Ainge, then he sits and waits his chance. Most everyone on here is right, too, that Ainge has played great and put up good solid numbers. He had one bad half, probably just rusty, we always play like crap the first half after a bye week. Finally, let me add, does anyone remember last year when tried incorporting two qb's? Ainge's confidence is at its highest, and so long as it remains there, the better he plays. The last thing we need is him getting thoughts about Crompton creeping up his back.

That being said, I find it comical that Ainge is mentioned for heisman trophy consideration when it is obviously Meachem that makes everyone on this offense better. This offense should have hung 28 points on Alabama. How many times did they cross the 50 without scoring?

I am also hearing that Crompton is progressing nicely. I am in no way advocating replacing Ainge. I would like to see this staff be proactive about keeping Crompton involved.

dude, when you say that you want "incorporate crompton into a role that is not mop up duty" that is short for "i want to have a two quarterback system."

so, please, stop. seriously, stop.

And he might get some... if we're up by 35.

Ainge is #1 on the depth chart, Crompton is #2. It's that way for a reason. Ainge is better than Crompton right now.

Did you sleep through 2005? Don't you remember how bad of an idea it is to play 2 QBs?

Quarterback is not like the other positions on the field. You have to have 1 player taking all the snaps. Once you take 1 QB out, you screw up his rhythm, and you can wreck his confidence.
