UNC-Duke... Battle for the Most Overrated

Speaking of Ty,I think Elliot did a great job on him. It was when the switches were made that Lawson found most of his openings.

Not bad for a frosh, eh?

Williams has been very impressive every time I've seen him play...

Long, athletic, smart, can shoot, can slash, can defend...he's a young Henderson

Too bad he went out of state..well...too bad for UT...not Duke :)

Elliot is a good player, he is a slashing lefty. I enjoyed watching the young man play a few of his HS. games.

I'd like to say something about the whole 'UNC doesn't play any defense" argument...

I think people say that because it has become the trendy thing to claim...

Granted they have lapses like any other team...but they are ranked 20th in the nation in defensive efficiency...a full 27 spots ahead of Pittsburgh...one of the vaunted Big East teams that plays "incredible" D..

Take todays game for example...Duke is a team that gets to basket and also strokes the 3...yet UNC holds them to 72...

If a team "doesn't play any D" against a team like that then that team gets lit up...

Oh well...you all can go ahead and rip me a new one over this...all I'm saying is you might want to qualify your comments about UNC's D before you jump on the bandwagon

All due respect BPV...and I respect your opinion alot....if you're going to imply that officiating gave an unfair advantage to one team...specifically one player...you should get your facts straight first...

Henderson (FTM-FTA): 6-11
Lawson (FTM-FTA): 9-10
valid point. Didn't realize he shot so many. Have to admit I'm too lazy to look it up.

Felt like Lawson got and gets bailed out constantly. He did late here.

dookies complaining about the whistle makes me lol.

That's odd coming from a guy supporting the megaflopper who has made more fts than anyone in the history of college basketball.

And as much as I hate the guy, Scheyer kept Duke in there. I saw him bringing up the ball a little bit- did K have him in at point? He had 5 assists.

He's been at the point for the last 6 games. Played really well there to. Not many turnovers. Had only 5 going in to the UNC game.

It was so he could insert Elliot into the lineup. And it creates a mismatch. Jon's a good 6'6.

Isn't that like 6 out of the last 7 for Roy and the boys?

Geez... Coach K, we know you can do better.

Seriously, Duke needs to step it up to keep this rivalry alive. :)

Wrong, Duke lost 2 this year, split the series last year, lost both in 07, split in 06, split in 05

Lost the last game in 06, lost both in 07, split in 08, lost both this year...

That's 1 out of 1, 3 out of 3, 4 out of 5, and 6 out of 7...it's still 6 out 8 if you count both 06 games

yeah didn't know why he excluded duke's win in 06. Duke has only won 2 times in the last 8 times they have met.

Yeah..but as a UNC fan 6 out of 7 sounds better...

It's just a case of lying(or stretching the truth) with statistics..

I have a friend who is a Duke fan and he throws all of these stats at me to try to claim that the series hasn't turned in UNC's favor recently...

He actually texted me last night and said "That's still 7 out of 11 at the Dean Dome"

I understand that mentality really well cause it's what I was forced to do for the entire first half of this decade

Well I am a Duke fan, but your fan is a moron. This series seems to go in either of the teams favor for a few years, then flops back around. UNC is loaded with talent, and Duke is too. With that being said, next year's games will be interesting once TH is gone. That may hurt more than most UNC fans realize

The series next year will definitely favor Duke...and UNC will miss TH pretty bad but they'll miss Lawson even more

For Duke...I think the only players you're in danger of losing early might be Singler and Henderson but I just can't see either leaving...

You'll return all the players you have(other than Paulus and McClure..but who cares right?) and you add Plumlee and Kelly..

UNC on the other hand will lose 4 out of 5 starters but they're bringing in the top recruiting class...they'll be stacked in the post, bring Ginyard back, and have some fire power on the wings with Strickland and McDonald...I can see Ginyard being like David Noel was in 06

Talent levels in the game will be similar but favor Duke....but the big thing will be the expereince factor ...it will be completely flipped compared to this year and that will most likely be the deciding factor

I think you'll see UNC making valiant efforts in both games...keeping it close and maybe even leading from time to time...but down the stretch Duke's experience will come through...I see them winning by 6-12 points in both games

You've got to go a little slower for the Dook types, Blamie. They can only read so much before they have to start typing again. :p

We don't have to go that far to make him feel better.

Lick your wounds and get ready for the ACC tournament. That's the way it works. Then, look out in the Big Dance. We may not be done this year, yet.

Duke has plenty of talent and plenty of coaching to beat the Heels this year. If the Heels go cold, Duke wins. It's that close.

Next year, well, let's take that one when it comes. Both teams are accustomed to reloading.
