Also the contract w Adidas runs out next year, in 6 to 8 weeks there suppose to re address the contract, .and Under.Armour and Nike aleady have bids out. Either of them would work for me.

No, there are not bids out with any other company. The VQ article said those companies may be interested.

UT and adidas have a 90-day exclusive negotiating period before bids can be submitted by other companies. If the money is right in that exclusive period, there won't be any other bids.

Tennessee lettering might be a little much. Comes off as too Big Eastish if you ask me. Like someone else said everyone knows our jerseys. The other two sound ok I guess. I honestly wish they would never change them again though. Whats wrong with being original.

VolQuest.com - Vols prepare to make state-ment

1. An outline of the state of Tennessee on the back of both the home and road uniforms, placed just above the player's names

2. A script "TENNESSEE" on the front of the road jersey, above the numerals

3. A faint checkerboard design in the numerals on the road jerseys

Sorry if already posted. I think both sound cool

I'm all for making changes, and I'll reserve judgment until I see the new uniforms.

However, I am nervous about all three and here's why:

1. I like the state outline idea but I think it should be a small, stitched outline rather than a patch.

2. I'm worried about the script TENNESSEE for the same reason- it could look cluttered unless they use a small font since TENNESSEE is a big word. I would instead use V O L S, reminiscent of the old letters at the top of Neyland.

3. I don't like the checkerboard numbers for two reasons. One, it's not my personal taste- to me it looks too close to something race-car related. Two, and more importantly, I don't think the players will like it. This could be similar to the Maryland fail from last season- anyone remember that monstrosity? Instead, I would consider adding a checkerboard accent to the helmet or, simply, just stick with the checkerboard pattern that is already on the sleeves of their undershirts.

Are you saying you'd like the state outline to go around the player's name, i.e. make it very big? If so, honestly that would look really goofy to me.

The checkerboard will be really faint. Only will see it up close. And deer park I have a question . How old are you and do you like the the Oregon alts? What word would u use to describe them

The panel their name is on is a large rectangle. I'm simply suggesting that it be the shape of the state- the color would be the same as the jersey, so it would be clean, not goofy imo.

I've been all for small Jersey changes for a while. Even the black ones were okay for a game. However, the helmets should always be the same imo

Honestly, 90% of people won't notice the change.

Now, the Oregon game uniform, they'll notice.

This is what I was thinking, these changes are the definition of subtle, with the exception of the grey jersey.

Any idea what pants we will wear with the greys? I would hope white because a white helmet, grey jersey, and orange pants sounds a bit...much.

Then again we are playing Oregon, so we'd fit in.

Ah, I get what you're saying now. Yeah that would be ok, though I'm not sure many would notice. I didn't even realize the name is on a rectangle.

I'm positive the state outline is going to be extremely small, like what Mississippi State has on their jerseys.

I changed my mind on this one and edited my post. I forgot that some players' names are giant and my original thought wouldn't work unless we stop using names. BUT I like the names.

According to sources, Hart has always included his coaches in the decision on apparel. Also sources confirmed that Tennessee would not base its decision simply on a bottom-line dollar figure but instead will examine a variety of factors. Hart has extensive history negotiating with Nike from both his days at Florida State and Alabama

This is the part I'm most excited about

"Variety of factors" translation... 17 year old kids think Adidas is lame and think Nike is cool. Like it or not uniforms and apparel go a long way into recruiting and building the "brand". {insert obligatory Oregon comment}.

I am personally all for being a Nike school.
