Those iconic gray scrubs have become Nike's marketing scam of the decade! Illinois introduced them as "gray ghost" to honor Red Grange. Then Minnesota used them as "grey wolf" vs Michigan over the weekend. The marketing genius at Nike even used the UT orange numbers and convinced the gopher fans that it was a merger of their maroon and gold!
I honestly hope UT puts them in a closet and donates them to 3rd world orphans instead of wearing them on the field again.
Why do some of you have to bring Alabama into every argument to try and prove a point? Do you have some type of Crimson envy?
Probably because people continue to moronically post that alternate uniforms somehow have a correlation to winning. The easiest way to blast a hole in this stupid notion is to cite the most successful team of the past decade who just so happens to never wear alternates.
I don't think you can produce a post where someone stated that wearing a different uniform actually helps a team win. Seen plenty where it's theorized that they help in recruiting. Good luck PROVING that wrong...Alabama always recruits well but other examples are dwindling for you...Ohio State pulled out a black alternate a couple of weeks back...soon it'll be just Bama...and Princeton.
The only reason we have alternate uniforms is because we are letting the inmates run the prison. 18 - 22 year old little boys don't have choices in a multi-million dollar system

It's not like Bama is the only one. Auburn and LSU have both had massive success in the past decade all while sticking to a traditional look.
Not sure they correlate to winning, but I think recruits and players like them, and that's important to the program.
Also, the team who dismantled Alabama in the playoff last year has all types of alternate uniforms. 9 of the top 10 teams (Bama did wear Pro Combats, but they were close enough to their regular unis that I won't count them) in the current polls have worn alternate uniforms before to my immediate knowledge. It's simply a part of today's game.
I realize that, but it's a part of the modern game that I hate. Like the other guy posted, bowing to the whims of 18-22 year old kids is the definition of letting the inmates run the asylum. The chance to put on the same jersey that countless UT legends who came before you should be a source of pride, not something you want to distance yourself from.
