Why is it when someone asked for something different one time a year all of the sudden meant we need to remove the T and change the fight song so on blah blah blah. It is one game and it would not hurt at all. Do you not remember seeing the team on Halloween come out in black and the way it energized the fan base and the team not to meantion ALL of the additional money it brought the university. Good grief it is not going to end the darn world here people. Might even help get that HUGE red number on the checking account get in the black. See what I did there. haha.

It's like a broken record....seriously I've never seen anything so overblown as the "crowd reaction" to the black jerseys.

And I'm sorry, just how much "additional" money was brought by these magical jerseys?

I don't mind an alternate, a throwback, even subtle changes to main uniform. I don't even mind a black alternate, provided it's actually a good one and not some cheap looking thrown together thing that Kiffin pulled out.

What I'm against is the argument we HAVE to do anything, or that our look is tired, that we have to switch to Nike, and that Vol Nation went bat-crap crazy over the black jerseys 4 years ago. And while I said I wouldn't mind a black jersey, I still can't understand the obsession to have something basically half the teams of FBS have now.

Ok I am sorry I was there and the speculation alone made it more electric. I was there and it actually was loud for a change. Since I do not work for the University I do not think I can tell you how much was made but if you think by any means it did not then you my friend are crazy. How many Orange and White Jerseys do you own? I myself have 4 orange and 2 white oh yeah and a black jersey. If you are lucky enough to own an authentic jersey you will know that they last for years. No need to get another unless it is in maybe a Grey or possibly black. Either way even if a subtle change the avid fan will want it and it will bring money. Again this is all over a flippin jersey change one time a year and will not help or keep us from winning but if it can do anything to bring money or help in any way I am for it. I have been going to games for many years and this same CRAP was said when we decided to go to grass from the turf but it seemed to work out ok. That brings up another debate because it will not be long before we see field turf but that is for another day. IT IS JUST 1 GAME AND 1 JERSEY! :peace2:

No. It's still an opinion. And when anyone can show the vote the "fan base" participated in that supports the fact that the majority of it disagrees with a particular idea I will be quiet.

You weren't the only one at the game, and several others dispute the notion that it was "loud for a change".

So you can't tell me how much more money it brought in, yet you can say I'm crazy if I don't believe it did? Makes perfect sense.

I respect DP as much as anyone in here and remember him addressing it as saying the AD received hundreds of phone calls and hundreds more emails in response to the black jerseys.
My response to that is a) those jerseys looked awful and completely thrown together with the rest of the uniform, and b) if "hundreds" represents the majority of the fan base then we are in trouble.
We have never had a vote of the fan base and frankly it's just not possible.

Probably already know the answer but how would yall feel about an orange jersey with black numbers and oeange facemask for 1 game.....or the grey jersey with a helmet with brick.graphics and an orange T and white facemask?

Sounds like a plan. Aside from the black trim on the road jerseys, the uniforms we wore last year are literally perfect IMO.

I thought Packers fans basically disowned Favre after he left Green Bay. If they didn't, you sure wouldn't have known it by the pathetically classless reception he got when he returned with the Vikings.

The best uniform I've ever seen, IN MY OPINION, was the solid orange basketball uniform UT wore this year. Would love to see something like that on the football field but know it can't happen cause its so hard to get the helmet to match and the NCAA is mandating the numbers must be a different color.
