I lived and worked in Montgomery, AL just long enough to earn the money to fix my car and leave. My only fond memory of that time was receiving my acceptance and financial awards letters from UT. Finally, I was going to college. If you lived in Mobile, and wanted to listen to the Tennessee game that's what you did.

Those guys were ok. Eli Gold is fingernails on the chalkboard as far as I can see. Bama fans swear he's "the best", but it sounds like a NASCAR event (which he did on the side).I figured about 10% on here would know who John Forney was. Forney & Doug Layton with Jerry Duncan on the sideline. I had to listen to them here when they played UT.
No. I was out of high school, working to save money, and applying to various universities, hoping one would award me the grants, loans, and scholarships for which I qualified. Universities’ financial aid offices controlled the disbursement of federal as well as state programs at the time.Did you go to high school in Montgomery? What year did you graduate?
I remember those days. I graduated from Wetumpka in 70 and started at UT in June 1970. I was lucky in that I had a POTSB scholarship.No. I was out of high school, working to save money, and applying to various universities, hoping one would award me the grants, loans, and scholarships for which I qualified. Edit: It was the early 70s.
