yes i believe so he was also at Samford Univ and transferred over last year. On a side note the kid went down to Tunica and won some money i heard $3,000 and went to his see his frat bros and after that he was shot it was a robbery atempt, my speculation was he was followed from the casino to home when he got shot someone knew he had a pocketful of money. This is all speculation but i got this from a good source.

If your theory is correct, exactly how is that a reflection on Willie Herrington?

I'm big on holding perpetrators of crime responsible. What exactly should have been done to prevent this? Using your theory, I assume you think everyone coming into Shelby County should be stopped coming into the jurisdiction and asked if they've just won money. That way, they could get a police escort home.

Memphis is a rough town, I had a good friend who went to optometry school there. Doesn't A&E have a reality crime show following the Memphis P.D.?

So, we have roving gangs of Memphisians scouting casinos for winners to follow home? That sounds like a casino security problem to me.

It's not the first time, Hat. One lady won a few thousand and got raped and killed after she got back to Memphis.

How is being ranked #1 in violent crime not a reflection on a city's mayor? Especially when that mayor has been in office over a decade, and seen the violent crime rates steadily escalate and done very little to stop it.

Exactly what should he do? Strap on a holster and go on patrol? Pass an ordinance banning individuals with prior criminal histories in Orleans Parish from moving to Shelby County? Raise the tax rates on an already impoverished populace to put more police on the streets? Here's a novel idea: People should take some personal responsibility for the state of their neighborhoods.

Uhm anyone that lives down here knows King Willie has done almost NOTHING for the crime down here. Look at the stats Memphis #1 in crime (from the FBI report) I think that says it all. Memphis is his city so its on him to take care of the promblem, it starts from the top down and he is the top guy in Memphis.

The casinos are an hour away from the U of M campus.
The theory being put forth here is that people are being folowed home from the casinos. That's on the gambling palaces, not the government of Shelby County.

Please explain what steps should be taken by the mayor.

Unbelieveable on how your thinking is, i work in this city as a firefighter/emt i work off Thomas and Mississippi i see the worst of the worst this city has, yes i do believe there is people who randomly see the easy victim at the casino and rob them i dont think the casino security can do anything about that unless the casino could escort the person who won money to the state line and after that it would be the person to secure themselves, in fact my grandmother has won big there and she was escorted home all the way to Millington so i guess it's all to the casino.

Why wouldn't it be on the site where these crimes have their genesis to prevent them?
