Univ Of Memphis Player shot and killed!

I have to agree coming from a fellow Memphian that it does get old having to constantly worry about crime no matter where you go (the safe areas here are no longer exempt) I would gladly trade the Fed Ex forum, redbirds, pyramid and maybe even Beale to be able to take my family downtown for some BBQ and not feel like I have to constantly watch my back. Also, I find it ironic that some poeple on here are saying that Herenton isn't responsible for crime in this city when it kind of loosely falls in line with people saying that Phil Fulmer isn't responsible for the our teams evident decline...Food for thought. :)

I'm loving all the newbies going after hat. At some point they will learn I guess. It seems to be really bad recently.

BTW hat, I hope I didn't act like this when I first started posting.
Please explain to me how i'm acting are we suposedly to bow down to all the all almighty Hat, before i can be accepted in this Volnation clique?

Same here bro, I know you're in Lex, but every time I would go to the Indy 500 we'd stop at place outside of Louisville, on the river, very dated place, called Mike Lenig's(I think). best damn frog legs, onion rings and coldest beer I ever had.

I am in Louisville at least once a week these days. I will have to check it out. Right now I have a home at "Ginny's", the home of the one pound burger, fried pickles, and hepatitis. Sure its a dump, but the food is pretty tasty.

It looks like you've been on here longer than me, I've just posted more so I don't think I'm in any online clique. There are guys on here that have been posting for a long time that seem to know each other better but I'm certainly not apart of that.

I never said anyone should bow down but this thread is just like a lot of others with a bunch of people who don't post much trying to prove hat wrong. I'm not saying you are right or wrong but it gets old and kind of funny at the same time.

I've lived in Memphis for 12 years - all of it in the city limits. When I first moved here the inner city was crime filled. You couldn't go downtown safely. But now downtown is undergoing a renovation - slowly, but a rebirth. I have spent many evenings in parts of downtown that I wouldn't have gotten close to after dark 12 years ago.

The city has it's criminal element - no doubt. But there are few "random acts of violence". Murders are typically tied back to shady actions by the victim. Most of the criminal activity is being squeezed into pockets in the city - which is fine. I stay out of those pockets.

The thought that a young man would be followed an hour's drive home from a casino and shot several hours after his return for $3K is crazy. I'm not sure what caused the tragedy, but it's not a random mugging based on Tunica winnings.

i used to love the Hart Foundation, Jim the Anvil was my favorite so i guess i will never use that again, U know us ("Memphians/Tennesseans") we know us some wrassling.

Fulmer decides who plays for the Vols, the mayor doesn't pick who gets to live in Memphis. It's not ironic.

I'm glad u find the news always right, this was an attempted robbery.

apparently thats the case. Dont get all upset though, I've only been around a few weeks and this is just how it is. Hat IS smart. He DOES know his vol sports. Everyone else DOES think he's insensitive at times, but he's got that guru cred. Whatever, its not worth the argument with em' (em' = a blanket refrence for any/all of the "experts". just talk your sports, bring some noise when you can and let em' have it there way. trust me , I'm in the same boat still.

So, you're 5'10", 390?

Hence the word "loosely" but i do see what you are saying, although for the most part Herenton is responsible for alot of the people who work beside him in politics much like Fulmers coaching staff, now if we can convince UT to let the public vote for the coaches....Hmmm we can even use this forum to help in the process...

I didn't say the new is right or it wasn't an attempted robbery. What I am saying is that it wasn't random. I've won (and lost) more than $3K down south, but I've never been shot in a parking lot over it.

best of luck with that. I'm out. see yall tuesday or whenever. nice visiting with you volz4.
