Unofficial Tusculum game thread

I don't mind playing the game. I just hate the timing of it.

Not a time for a team to play a game that very likely didn't get their full attention IMO

A lot of coaches like to play an easier opponent heading into conference play. Allows to rest some guys if it's needed (like Hubbs) and usually allows you to work on some things you haven't (today we played some zone).

Here's opponents of SEC teams today:
Richmond, UTPA, LBSU, Robert Morris, URI, UTSA, Dayton, NE and FAMU. Is every coach clueless Bruin, or do you think they may possibly know what they're doing?

Tusculum is D 2 and their record is 1-11!! I thought they would be better than that. At least schedule a consistently good D2 team.

What does it matter? Any D2 game doesn't figure in the RPI. So, it doesn't matter if they are good or not.

I understand the thinking but none of those teams are 1-11 D2 teams.

With an experienced team there is no need to schedule the "feel good" type game IMO

Right? Lol

This game was essentially scheduled as another exhibition. A chance to work on some things, get some guys healthy, and get an easy W.

Yet the majority of the SEC did?

I rather play a D2 team that won't hurt our RPI than play UTSA like Arkansas is doing and hurt our RPI.

Like I said this team is experienced and plenty talented. IMO there was no reason to scheduled a "feel good" game at this point. Pre Christmas would have been fine

Clearly Richardson didn't get up excited about playing this morning and he was becoming a hell of a factor. Hopefully he doesn't lose his momentum

And like I said, the majority of SEC coaches disagree with this theory of yours, who would you believe. An anonymous message board poster that makes ban bets with himself, or multiple SEC coaches that have own championships?

Well Jeronne Maymon has averaged about 13/10 since he was late, so clearly it didn't hurt him much being 2 minutes late to a shoot around.

And fwiw Richardson came out and scored in double figures again, so doesn't look like he's gonna fall into some funk lol.

Hell bto, me, you and Dupree could have scored double digits today! Lol

According to the UT website, Tusculum considered this an exhibition game -- WTH ?

Something else I disagree with, and I've been guilty of it, is referring to this team as "experienced". On the surface they would appear to be, our starting lineup is 3 seniors and 2 juniors, however that's a bit deceiving.

Barton is a senior, but this is his first year playing with these guys, not your typical senior. Also add in that he has played a lot of 2 guard, and he's definitely not what many would considered an "experienced senior PG". On top of that, he missed probably the 3 most important weeks of practice, that was huge.

This is Jordan McRae's first year as a full time starter, he's never been in that spot.

Josh is pretty experienced, but not much experience with the surrounding guys.

Maymon on paper sounds like he'd be really experienced right? Maymon had only played in 56 career games entering this year. In comparison Josh Richardson had played in 67 games entering this year. Factor in that he hadn't played in over a year, and he's not as experienced as he appears on paper, and definitely not expedited with his surrounding cast on this team.

Icing on the cake? We go 8 maybe 9 deep, first 3 guys off the bench are freshman. How many other teams in the country can say that? I don't think this team is nearly as experienced, as I or many others once thought.

Why would they want to add a L to their record if they don't have to? Seems like common sense to me, no?

So one team can count it and the other doesn't have to???

I just discovered a great plan for our FB trip to Oklahoma next year!

Damn should have thought about it before the Oregon trip this year

Not an experienced team?????

That's the most ludicrous thing I have read on here in a long time

Can't wait for LSU to see who the 8-9 are.

Aren't all the teams you just mentioned D1? Apples to Oranges?

Not surprised you can't compose and educated rebuttal.

I would be VERY intrigued to see the numbers of other SEC teams if someone were to figure the number of games played TOGETHER, on each roster. I'm guessing we wouldn't be top 3.

Our starting 5 has started an enormous amount of games.

Very uneducated thinking for you to suggest differently

If I was to count the number of starts our starting 5 has, and compared it to the rest of the SEC....where do you think we'd rank, 1?

Easily in the top half of the league

So top 7 in a 4-5 bid league and we're a very experienced team with an enormous amount of starts?

Ok.

Very experienced would be top 2, maybe 3 IMO. If you're conceding that we probably fall into the 5-7 range of experienced teams in the SEC, I would likely agree.
