Update on the Big Ten v. SEC

Umm... you do realize that NC State is ranked 11th out of 12 right now, correct?
Why would you let facts get in the way? Next, you're probably going to say something crazy like DePaul isn't much improved.

By the way, who did they finally beat in Big East play? I just saw Monday night they actually won a game.

I agree. Vandy is not significantly better than they were last year. I bet UK beats them 15+.
You folks are just kidding yourselfs. This is the best Vandy team in years. They are much more athletic and deep than previous Vandy teams. I certainly don't want to sound like MHF, but I told you before the game that Vandy would give us all we want and then some. The KY game will not be a 15+ game, although I do expect KY to win at home.

6 Bids for the Big 10....hahahahahahahahah...Minnesota could still make it in as the 5th team if they finish well, you know they have an RPI pretty much like...Oh yeah, Florida...the suck team.

Teams I said were strong who people here disagreed with including the "experts"
UNLV, Richmond, Charlotte, Missouri.

No Timmy, I am saying that UGA is not a bad team and given they have beaten Illinois, it should tell us a lot that the last place SEC East team is better than half the Big 10.

The teams in the SEC that are locks to the tournament are Kentucky, Tennessee, Vanderbilt and Ole Miss. Mississippi State, Florida and even South Carolina all have a shot without winning the SEC Tournament. Any of those three would need an extraordinary run (for South Carolina almost an impossible one like losing only 2 more games for the rest of conference play) but all have a chance. No one else in the SEC has a chance they would need to win the SECT to get in like Miss State did last year.

The SEC gets 5 or 6 teams in the tournament. The Big 10 gets less than the SEC and is a worse conference. That is what I have said all year.

South Carolina ain't going to the big dance, this is coming from a carolina fan. With Dominique Archie and Mike Holmes on the team, we could be a top 20 team, but they made up 30 points worth of scoring. Unless, we pull a UGA and win the SEC tourn, which I dont see

Vandy is a very good team . . . I would bet money that they beat UK if it were at Memorial Gym. I still think they might win on Sat. Vandy just has a good combo of inside guys and outside sharpshooters like jenkins and beal. Their team may be the most athletic in the league and they are also very well coached

Unless KY lays an egg, they'll kill Vandy.

This crusade has become senseless. I doubt you'll stumble ass backward into getting some right, but you might. Congratulations. You read other crap, watched little ball and predicted some right, which probability says will happen. Who'da thunk it?

In his defense, he hasn't pimped Clemson. I've been waiting for VN's annual parade of ACC honks telling us all how "this is the year" for Purnell's bunch.

The mean thing to do would be to ask him for proof of anyone saying UNLV and Missouri weren't pretty good. Emain's been hyping Richmond all year and Charlotte's not going to make the NCAA Tournament.

Yep. I still like the Spiders, although I think I backed off a bit during their rough patch.

That was hideous.

Vandy's soft squad handing us our ass at home doesn't do much for bolstering the top of our conference.
Mississippi State and Arkansas are playing one for the time capsule tonight. ESPN has to be rethinking putting any games involving teams from the West on their airwaves.

Perfect summation.

Also...

Miss. St just stunk it up and lost to Arkansas.

Show me where I said Depaul was good? I said they would win a Big East game this year and they did.

I said Arizona would not be the worst team in 20 years, and I will probably end up being wrong on that. If I am right and Hat is wrong, they cannot lose more than 3 games the rest of the Pac 10 schedule which is possible but unlikely.

South Carolina back when I said they were good had 2 players who were excellent who got hurt. Wow...Guess people who said Cincy was great were idiots because K Mart was injured.

Alabama and Florida State are good. Maybe good means different things to you guys. To me it does not mean top 25. When a team is top 25 type talent I say that I think they are.

By the way, we have two more months before the archives come out on the people who said Charlotte and Missouri etc sucked. Almost everyone who said that is in this thread.

The Big 10 is not as good as the SEC...

I do not regularly read what anyone says about basketball except Gary Parrish and I certainly am not taking any cues from him on prognostication. I do watch basketball a lot, maybe too much. That is how I knew that the Big 10 had zero chance of 6 bids.

Also when I said UNLV was a really strong team, and a great program, Hat acted like I was saying something idiotic. He called them the 5th best team in their league I think, not just this year, but as a job...

That is/was a statement that was more than a headscratcher, it was the kind of thing you would expect someone to say who knows nothing about the Mountain West which certainly does not describe him.

Calling Missouri not a good win was early in the discussion of the SEC back when I said Vanderbilt had a very strong team this year.

I thought Florida did as well. So far that does not look to be accurate. They seem to miss Calathes but what they really need is one or two guys in the post who do not suck.

UK somehow still lost though against SC and there is not a bigger contrast in talent level in the SEC than between their two frontcourts...

You have a very liberal view of good to put Alabama in that category. The main thing you do too much is make stupid predictions.

If Alabama is good, there are roughly 150 good teams this year.

If DePaul was never going to be any good, how was Tennesee's win over them in the Virgin Islands ever going to be considered a good one?
