This evaluation is based upon what? Twitter videos of a few reps? Were you there? Were there other 5 stars there? What exactly is "way less?" You really need to qualify a statement like that. Otherwise, it looks like pure horsecrap.
He may be. Not many would argue. Just funny how 247s opinion changed dramatically with tOSU beside his name.
It's part of it. Could be a particular metric where an offer from certain schools creates a bump of the total score. Honestly, if you think the most important factor is an offer list, then this type of bump fits right in with that philosophy.
Also, since a lot of the offers are self reported by the recruit, a bigger bump may exist when they commit to validate the offer.
I know that in my mind, an OSU commit is probably inherently a much better prospect than a Northwestern commit.
Its a business. Of course they rate guys higher if they attend their camps. They want these kids to go to these camps because it allows their guys to evaluate them further, but more importantly it allows them to create content about them, which is where the real $$$ in the business is. It's been this way for a while with Rivals/247, even ESPN to some extent.
But, the thing is, Teague hasn't been camping with the recruiting services much. All he's done is gone to Bama, OSU and Clemson and camped. Mostly just ran the 40 for them. But, imo, he deserved some kind of jump, I think he is a top 7 back in this class and should be a 4 star.
It's not always dependent on those regional or national camps. Writers attend all types of camps, even the ones hosted by universities - it just so happens that some of those camps are held in higher regard than others. You will see lots of regional writers attend camps for OSU, Michigan, Alabama, Florida/Florida St, USC, Texas etc but maybe only one or two writers for the camps at smaller schools.
I think some influential writers attended the OSU & Bama camp, probably thought he deserved a bump. Not everything is a conspiracy, but when it comes to a conspiracy, they certainly have reason to rate certain guys higher than others - and it usually has to do with how much they've been exposed to said recruit.
