(Updated 7/13) 2021 MLB Draft and Roster Management Discussion Thread

I would say Lipscomb is more of a HR threat if I'm taking a stab at it. I think our lineup will have plenty of power so it will just depend on what we need from that slot and where they land in the order.

Sorry, I wasn't being clear...both would be in the batting lineup. I was just saying I don't know who would play 3B and who would DH because I don't know who the better defensive player is.

Chase Burns to Pads. Another instance that I talked about above.

I actually think that Burns ends up on campus, the money past the 12th round is minimal at best . . . with all of the deductions - agent and taxes, not much left to buy a burger, fries and coke, and that's off of the $1 menu.

He's already said he's coming to campus.

Stephenson could break out. I love that pickup. We need to address SS and hopefully get some depth behind the plate. If we got Kessler it’d be huge.

We’ve come a long way in a short time with Coach V as Tennessee baseball’s skipper. I’m here for all the information gathering. Bring it on! 👍🏽

Getting Burns to remain on campus would be a huge win. The makeup of our pitching staff and bullpen next season is what I find the most intriguing. With Blade, Burns, and (potentially) Camden, Seth H. ,Kirby…that’s a great mix of arms. Will Ben Joyce be recovered from his injury? If we get Chase Dollander as a transfer commit, he will be a great addition. I’m also curious about Elijah, Mark, and Jason.

Ben Joyce had Tommy John last October 2020. In that outing he fanned 3 in a row hitting 101 mph, but tore the UCL. He was throwing 98-100 mph regularly on the FB and has a few other pitches. Anderson will be of great help to him. The kids huge at like 6'5", 225 lbs, and solid. He should be back up on the mound in the Fall and be part of the 2022 pitching staff. And I'll add that there is a slight small chance that Redmond W will return.

With Moore and Stephenson headed to campus, if we could keep just one of Spikes/Dooley I would say we probably secured the best case scenario heading into draft day.

I'd say both Spikes and Dooney are gone, but I'm going to hold out hope until the ink dries - especially on Dooney.

Best pitching staff in the country!
