they just said if he was healthy to start the season Blade’s a 10-15 pick, thats $4.0-$5.5 million vs $1.47 million. He didn’t look too thrilled on camera, his girlfriend did but he didn’t……..going to be interesting few weeks
28. Houston Astros: Drew Gilbert, CF, Tennessee
Who is Gilbert? The face of the most dominant offensive team in recent college baseball history, Gilbert is known for his brash play with the Vols. He hit .362 with a 1.128 OPS on his way to All-SEC honors in 2022. With a high-contact approach and above-average speed to go along with his all-out style, veteran outfielder Brett Gardner is a good place to start when looking for a comp.
Why the Astros took him here: Getting Gilbert here is a really strong draft board value for the Astros. He was ranked No. 11 in McDaniel's pre-draft rankings and nobody would have been surprised if he came off the board 10 picks earlier tonight after his big season at Tennessee. Gilbert has a high floor and his ceiling is an everyday center fielder who makes teams pay for skipping over him tonight -- and continues to play with a chip on his shoulder for years.
I can’t see it. If it were Tommy John, per se, I think it would definitely be in play. With it being his shoulder I think it’s a different story, however. He’s another injury away from potentially falling further.they just said if he was healthy to start the season Blade’s a 10-15 pick, thats $4.0-$5.5 million vs $1.47 million. The 2022 MLB Draft begins Sunday, July 17th, 2022 at 7PM EDT (ESPN, MLB Network) and ends Tuesday, July 19th, 2022. There are 20 rounds in this year's draft.
When: July 17, at 7PM EDT; July 18, at 2PM EDT; July 19, at 2PM EDT
Where: Los Angeles, Calif.
I decided to use Google spreadsheets this year to keep track of our draft-eligible players, incoming freshman signees, JUCO signees, and (outgoing/incoming) transfers. Scroll down, and at the bottom of the spreadsheet, you will see four tabs for the four categories mentioned above. You can toggle back and forth between tabs to see players and their info. If anyone has additional info, please let me know in the replies, and I’ll do my best to update. During the draft, I'll update our draftees with round and MLB team.
I'll also update this OP with additional links, articles, and information as they become available. Feel free to post any links or info you find. Thanks everyone!
