Updated AP Poll - moved to #22

They’re both 5-0. We’re getting to the point in the year where records are starting to matter a bit more toward rankings.

The weirder part is 4 teams that were above us lost. So even accounting for two teams jumping up it’s still odd to fall a spot after dominating conference win.

Oh well. UK and Mizz probably both lose this upcoming week. Beat TAM and it will all shake out.

I think it’s more that both Kentucky and Missouri are 5-0 at this point. Kentucky blew out Florida (who beat Tennessee in a game UT performed really poorly in) and Missouri also has a bit of a better win than UT does (Kansas State was ranked when Missouri beat them, and they’re still sitting right outside the rankings as a one loss team).
This. All we need to do is focus on one at a time. We need to use these 2 weeks to our maximum advantage. Get healthy and really work on the areas that need it. A@M has a lot of talent they just haven’t found super consist play. But the last 2 weeks they have played better. But we can beat them if we continue to build off this weeks play. There new quarterback has looked pretty good but he hasn’t been in a road environment that he will experience in Neyland. If we take care of our business our ranking will take care of itself. GBO

I think this Tennessee team has to prove it can win on the road to make a jump in the polls. Neyland Stadium's reputation may be working against us.

I wonder how many points Vegas thinks our home field is worth?

Not helping either: Kentucky blew out Florida (who beat Tennessee in a game UT performed really poorly in) and Missouri also is a bit better in the better wins department than UT (Kansas State was ranked 15th when Missouri beat them, and they’re still sitting right outside the rankings as a one loss team).
Really don't matter like somebody said just keep winning but that Missouri win vs K State was pretty fortunate to get out there with a win at Home and had to hit a 61-yard field goal with time running out.

We moved to 22, Jumped by Mizzou lol
I trust the AP as much as I trust a politician. A bunch of nerds who haven’t done enough in the real world to know how to accurately represent their constituents so therefore they wouldn’t know their butt from a whole in the ground. I trust the coaches poll more than AP.

The media really loves them some Mizzou this year for some reason. Ranked ahead of Ke tucky this entire time despite unimpressive wins against Memphis, Vandy and a suspect Kstate.

Kansas State is generally considered a good football team.

Kentucky may have had the weakest schedule in the league so far. Florida didn't do much to change that narrative since their game last week against a bad Charlotte team they scored 1 touchdown.

It's still early. It should be an interesting finish in the SEC with so much still up for grabs.

It's still a good win. They are improved.

The bottom line is just win baby. Ultimately the better these teams are considered the better a win over them will look.

KY beat the brakes off FL who honestly whooped us. Their ranking is fair. We have beaten no one yet. Win out and we still win the East. Polls don’t matter right now. Just win.
All the other teams that KY has beaten have been well, not good teams. They beat UF at home.

I think it has more to do with getting the top 25 match up next week at UGA. If they get beat by UGA, they will probably drop out of the top 25.

I agree. Probably helps with sports betting.

Yes it is. I called 6-6 or 7-5 for them after that game and here they go. I'll swear I can't understand how we find a way to lay eggs against them for 30+ years in the same division. Inexplicable.
I said the same thing, heck Charlotte played them as well as we did

Ranking today don't mean as much as they did in the BCS era and before. Back then it was almost impossible to get into the Championship without being undefeated. At least there's 12 slots or opportunities. If we run the table we will be in even with 1 loss to an awful Florida team.
Ranking at #22 shouldn't get us down.

If the poll voters examine the win column as a resume rather than as a spreadsheet, then we will get more bounce out of a road victory than a home win, even over a good team.

This is the unintentional downside of Neyland Stadium regaining its reputation.

The playoff doesnt go to 12 teams until the 2024 season.

This year is still 4 teams.
