Updated recruiting rankings

Hopefully the fan base will give butch and company time to continue and bring Tennessee football back to the top.

Not sure by what you mean by the fan base giving him time....did the fanbase fire Dooley? I thought that was Hart's decision. I'm not aware of the fanbase firing anyone actually. Maybe if no one gave Dooley so much time in the first place, the new coach wouldn't have so many problems to fix.

With only 22 spots this year I would be happy with a top 15, if we get a good QB and DL, we got to have big DT in this league to win, the RB and WR look pretty own paper but we need a lot of the big uglys on both sides of the ball, we got the pretty boys now lest get some uglys.

Yeah, this. OP is wrong.

5th in the SEC doesn't actually make me feel super pumped up about our recruiting at this point.

7th nationally is great. Even more so for a small class. It just so happens that 4 of the 6 ahead of us are in our same conference.

It's May. We are in on a lot of big time prospects that haven't committed yet so I look for us to climb a few spots before it's all said and done.

I guess it's good that the SEC teams above UT are all in the West, a little surprising though.

We're neck and neck with 3 of the 4 teams ahead of us. It's Bama that is leaving everybody else in its dust.

I don't see anything about the fan base firing him... Just asking for the fans to give him time before turning on him... Somebody always has to be that guy

I don't believe the ratings are anything other than an indicator of potential success with perhaps the exception of Alabama who is a level ahead at this time for the 2015 class. Being 5th in the SEC and 7th in the nation is outstanding!

For me, the subjective rankings mean nothing. All the top 10-15 schools have talented players and their success will depend upon how hard they are willing to work and how effective the coaching staff is to coaching up talented individuals into a winning team.

I like what I am seeing relative to the Vol coaching staff's ability to recruit talented players and motivate them to be play in the SEC. As we talked about yesterday, possibly CBJ's greatest achievement is motivating the athletes to be scholar athletes. I suspect that is the most difficult task a coach has but one that is not given as much attention as the rest of the factors until that APR stands in the way of a bowl game.

Next for the Vols is a bowl game and winning most SEC games. I think recruiting is in good hands. Aside from the temporary elation that went along with CLK's recruiting class before it imploded, I haven't felt that way in a long, long time.

Apparently we fired Zo...even though it appeared he got paid by another team. :ermm:

5th in SEC, 7th nationally...

7th nationally is incredible. However, this fall will still be a struggle. One more top class and we will officially be on the road to the good ol days. I expect CBJ will do it as long as we all support him.

I think we end up higher, even with a smaller class. That being said, it really doesn't matter. Coaches have to coach the team into SEC Champions regardless of recruiting rankings. Alabama doesn't win the title every year, but they have been ranked at the top in recruiting almost every year.

Your right. They just start petitions and help the coach choose to leave.

Where did this come from? This is recruiting ranking...for football. Not W-L record for basketball basketball.

Presumably the same UT fans who are willing to accept being fifth in SEC football rankings as a great accomplishment (which it actually is right now), but have actively petitioned against UT bb coach who finished top 5 in the SEC 3 years in a row in actual W-L column (more meaningful statistic). That's where the post came from - frustration with how inconsistent and irrational our fans can be.
