Upset Watch: Week #1

WV over Pitt: Life without Pickett starts off rough.

Fl over Utah: Didn’t take them in Pick em but the heat and humidity will play a roll here.

Cincy over Arky: they lost a lot but I think it’ll be a better game then most people think. We’ll see if they can hang around long and get the W.

FSU over LSU: I don’t like Brian Kelly and never will. I hope like hell he has to come up with an excuse for his teams play Monday night.

East Carolina over NCST: if you’ve ever been in, around, or lived in Raleigh you know how State fans are. This is their golden year and they always fall short somehow. This will be no different and they’ll be ready to mail it in.

Elon over Vandy: Hawaii was bad but Vandy isn’t that good. Not many have forgotten Vandy dropped a game to ESTU just last season. I think the carry over from the game has an effect and Vandy is still Vandy.

Virginia Tech is -7.5 vs Old Dominion. I could see ODU possibly springing the upset .

I can see App beating Carolina. I was not impressed w/ UNC over FAMU the other night. Maybe their D was sandbagging or playing vanilla, but App will tear them up if they play like their normal soft selves.

I think State will beat ECU, but when it comes to State nothing surprises me.

I didn't realize until just now that NC State has won 8 or 9 games 4 out of the last 5 years, which is pretty good, yet it still seems like they underachieve. They've had 16 players drafted the last 5 drafts, including 3 1st rounders. They had what amounted to their entire defensive line drafted in the first 128 picks in 2018 off a team that lost 4 games and was ranked 23rd.

NC State has had some great players come through there. They’ve had a lot of high picks over the years. The crazy thing is the # of QB’s they’ve had drafted. Philip Rivers, Russel Wilson (it really pisses them off when you say he went to Wisconsin) Mike Glennon, Jacoby Brissett, Devin O’Leary will probably get a shot after this year. The thing about State is that they will beat Clemson or FSU when they were good one week and then lose to an ECU or BC or Duke the next. They just have knack for blowing it. They also tend to suck in OOC games against the P5. They got handled by Miss State last year.

I'm gonna go Oregon over UGA. Everyone seems to think that UGA doesn't miss too much of a beat, but this has a first game loss feeling to it, for me anyways.

This is State in a nutshell.

They’ll come out and play championship football against Clemson in the worst weather. The very next week they’ll lose to William and Mary. They have talent there’s no doubt but somehow they’ve never put it all together.

People forget Kirby had to sell all those guys on coming back too. They still have loads of talent but not expecting some drop off is ridiculous. If Oregon can come in and play their game and not get caught in the wash they stand a chance. I’m betting the moment gets to Lanning and it gets ugly.

0-12 schtick aside, Utah is an established team with most of their production returning on offense and defense.

UF has no identity, is breaking in a new staff with a roster that’s anything but deep.

How Utah is only a 3-pt favorite is a testament to UF’s brand and little else.
