Urban Meyer...Coach of the Year?

I will say this: many of us here said Florida had an extremely tough schedule, and if Florida finishes 12-1 with the SEC Title, I wouldn't be pissed if he won.

I still like Carr, despite the whole drunkness thing.

The rebound is looking great. Cutliffe deserves most of the sucess here IMO.

Tressel shouldn't win this ear.

Coach of the year should go to some team that overachieved, and the Buckeyes aren't really exceeding expectations, but doing just as they were supposed to be doing.

UF had an extremely tough schedule to start the year, but, at this point, some of the games aren't quite as tough as previously thought. UGA and FSU aren't near as good as advertised.

:lolabove: good point actually...but i'll stand by the reasoning...and really more so to Carr's than Fulmer's. I guess Houston Nutt wasn't driving a car huh?:p

Fulmer was a homer pick for sure...and like i said, Meyer has done some good things, but is it really all that big a surprise that Florida is good? he has a ton, and i mean a ton of talent on that team, and if not for that talent, their undisciplined play would have lost them some games, along with the poor kicking game.

he's getting buy on talent imo, not purely on outstanding coaching. and that's not a bad thing or necessarily a jab at Meyer, he's a good coach, he's proven that at every other stop in his career so far...but not COY material this year imo.
Houston Nutt's car is a 1987 Ford Taurus. It's going to break down occasionally. TCHFCATUTK and Carr both have fully tricked out Escalades.

I'd say a case could be made for Tressel if they go on to win the national championship. How many people expected the Buckeye defense to be as stout as it is after what they lost to the NFL? Tressel has Columbus loaded with talent.

Yeah, I remember a lot of people writing Florida off because of their schedule. Well, we're sitting here on the outside while Florida's gearing up for Atlanta pending probable victories over South Carolina and Vandy.

I still hate them, but 'speck to the Gators.

A few more dem administrations and it'll be the F word...but for now it's okay to call some one fat....the last acceptable predjudice.

I hate that line of reasoning. So far, Tosu has yet to even play a mediocre game. They have dominated every single game they have played. If Tosu finishes #1, then Tressel should be a unanimous pick for COY.

Meyer has barely slipped by UT, in what most consider a coaching mistake by Cut and Fulmer, got by LSU due to the worst football performance LSU has ever displayed, and lost to a more deserving Auburn team. UGA lost to Vandy and FSU is awful this year. Not exactly a COY resume for Meyer.

I agree about Tressel. Anybody that can go wire to wire as #1 deserves strong consideration.

Agree. Tressel is is at top of the list and Urban is not close to being on the short list for this award. If we win out though Fulmer should get an honorable mention but definately Tressel is the man this year, pending winning out.

It is and he gets my vote for sure. That program was nothing and they hadnt been ranked in the Top 25 since the Stone Age.

this is fun....again i don't think urban should win COTY but he would've if they would've went undefeated....next week i might say DeShaun Wynn and Chris Leak should be Heisman candidates...:shaking2:

Urban would have my COTY vote if Florida was undefeated. Doesn't mean I don't hate FU, but that schedule is ridiculous and I'm shocked you guys are a couple of formalities from playing for the SEC title.
