Urban Meyer fired

I just assumed when the grumblings were coming out. This Lambo deal was orchestrated to come out now so the Jags can try and fire with cause to save some money.

Well at least it was his antics that got him fired and not him quitting because he ended up with some kind of "health problem". It just shows how much is covered up in college sports.

I think he has finally revealed enough of himself that he will be forced to disappear from the spotlight for a while. I don't even think the talking head shows will hire him for a while.

Physical abuse, verbal abuse, covering up crimes, faking health issues, sexual misconduct... He's run the gauntlet.

Gonna take over Butch’s former coffee fetching position at Bama

The sad thing is, he’ll land back on his feet as a talking head on Fox or NBC and everyone will pretend he’s not a complete waste of air.

I really don’t think he will. He had a little negative publicity at Ohio state but nothing like what just happened to him. He made a mockery of his entire legacy and just had one of the most unsuccessful tenures win nfl history. He’s done as a prime time name.

You should be correct. But I think some desperate big name program will hire him in a few years.

I think tOSU is done with Meyer. Read some boards from up there.

I think Chip Kelly to the Jags and Meyer to UCLA would be the most "the state of football in 2021" thing possible.

I'm not sure they'll need to be "desperate" enough to hire him as his college resume speaks for itself. Washington, Oregon, USCw, Notre Dame and maybe even OU or LSU would have snatched him up in a heartbeat had he been available a few weeks ago. Hell, Florida would probably made the call at a minimum.

He will go to Liberty to rehab his image after Freeze gets hired somewhere else lol

When he looked like a sore loser here, I knew he was done.

I’m sure some desperate P5 team would hire him in for 2023 or 2024 after some of the hoopla dies around him. He is one of the 15 best college coaches ever. But that is not gonna be a fun press conference to start.

I’m sure a ton of Florida State and Texas fans are starting Urban threads right now though lol
Not FSU fans................No chance they will ever have him there.

Meyer has ties to Cinci. He's an alumni, he has family involved in the university there, and he has business interests in Columbus.

He'll go back home for awhile but don't be surprised to see him in an interim role, maybe more, at UC if Fickell gets poached to ND or somewhere.

I highly doubt that.............I've been wrong before, but I don't see it.
At least based on what my friends in Tallahassee say

Norvell will get a chance at making an impact and the man can coach as seen by his time in Memphis. They just pulled in a decent recruiting class so, you could be right.

He's not had good seasons at FSU yet, but then again, that program was in the shambles when he took over and I don't count 2020 against anyone with the Covid protocols and whatnot. However, if given the chance between an Urban Meyer and a Mike Norvell with a losing record, the choice is easy most of the time.

Anyway, Urban can sit for a year, run his mouth on Fox or ESPN and wait for a bigger school to come open next year. I'd be more worried about a program with a decent shot at being great finally getting tired of being a homecoming team and putting out the cash to make a splash hire like Nebraska or Maryland or even a Colorado if they got serious about athletics.

Lot of wishful thinking in these responses. But then it is Christmastime.

The fans and players love Norvell (yesterday's loss hurt.) He is trying to change the culture left behind from Jimbo and Slick Willie.
His class is surprisingly solid, even with the losses yesterday. The loss of Hunter wasn't his fault.

Nobody predicted the Hunter flip lol at least not to... Jackson State? I mean, seriously? Nobody had that on the radar.

Absolutely.............It was a behind the scenes deal that I'm not sure any school would have known about, or even matched.
It was something like a Roman coup d'etat. Well played by JSU and Prime
