Urban Meyer rats on UF?

So Aaron Hernandez may have been identified in a 2007 double shooting. This would be while he was at Florida with Urban Meyer as the coach. If this is true, what is the likelihood NCAA looks into a cover up by Florida and Meyer? And, what is the likelihood of Penn State type sanctions being handed down?

edited to double shooting/attempted murder.

questions still stand though.

Mass. police investigate Aaron Hernandez for possible role in 2007 Gainesville shooting, according to sources - ESPN

Yep...it's the off-season...

What stinks is UM turned Florida and spent so many years there covering for players like Hernandez. Meyer will be exposed for what he is. It looks like he knew about the kids character and violence yet he missed little time for discipline. A trait Meyer will take wherever he coaches.

Why would he have been ineligible at least NCAA wise??

If (big IF) the school was aware that Hernandez was involved in some kind of criminal activity for which he might have been incarerated, then he was ineligible to play. His incarceration would have prevented him from playing football had the school done the right thing.

Hang on to that pipe dream...Meyer's reputation takes another hit, but UF won't face any sanctions over this.

If the NCAA decides to come snooping and finds out the school paid a guy not to press charges you can bet your ass they will. Maybe you need to put down the pipe.

Huge jump there. Eligibility rules to my knowledge have nothing to do with criminal issues unless him wiggling out of these crimes were perceived as extra benefits. That's the only issue florida has here IMO. Did a representative of florida athletics pay his way out of legal trouble? If so big issues for the gays

....no tears for the Gators, but Urb has shown himself to be what we've always thought he was.

A good coach, but a scumbag.

That's why I said "big IF". If anyone involved with UF football provided any kind of assistance to Hernandez with his, for lack of a better term, "issues", then UF has a major problem on their hands.

I am with you but unless money changed hands and that's proven nothing will ever come of it. Think about how many athletes at every school have avoided criminal charges because a phone call was made. This is clearly more severe than most but not something the NCAA needs to be involved with IMO unless money was used.

I'm agree with you in part. But this is not a drug bust, or some underage drinking. If someone at UF flexed their muscles to get Hernandez out from under a murder rap, then money is irrelevant.
