Uros embarrassed himself today

Yea DJ Burns and Drew Pember have been real quietly improving there draft status meanwhile Plavsic will probably go u drafted ....but I think Adoo will really blossom with more touches down low once they start feeding him the ball more

Hate to break it to you, but Burns and Pember aren’t getting drafted. Burns is still way out of shape.

Oscar Tshiebwe says it is "very annoying" to play against Tennessee's Uros Plavsic.

"He cusses me out in the game all the time. He's talking crazy... He told me, 'I'm your daddy. You're playing against your baby daddy."'

And we took the L
I heard Uros handed Oscar a tampon during the game.

I couldn’t care less anbout Oscar’s opinion of Uros or any other Vols. Uros’ free throw shooting and lack of shot blocking ability is what frustrates me.

Besides, it’s not like Oscar is a saint on the court himself.
Actually Uros has been one of our bright spots on the FT line the past few games.

My take is that you can expect good/very good players to YAP at their opponents. Players like Uros should not yap. Just play and try harder to make baskets and free throws....

Uros has a role and he plays it. Getting under opponents skin is what he does best. I personally think it is ridiculous that we don't utilize him more for easy post buckets. He is also a good passer out of the post.

I get his antics can bother some but I trust him more than any of our other bigs. He at least has some nastiness to him which I appreciate. The lack of playing time is mind blowing

It appears his antics have gotten him into Barnes’ doghouse. In his brief action tonight, he was scolded by Barnes and pulled after a touchy whistle. Not sure what Barnes is expecting when he sits him the entire first half in favor of Awaka and only goes to him out of sheer necessity due to ORN and Aidoo having just picked up fouls.

I wholeheartedly agree with you and the poster above, though. It’s mind boggling we aren’t using him for easy post buckets and to give us some presence inside. Without that, you get what we saw tonight. A stagnant offense that plays ring around the rosie before jacking up a deep/contested (or off-balance in the case of Key) 3. Some of Awaka’s, and Key’s minutes need to be given to Uros - especially with the absence of JJJ and Phillips. Barnes has done a whole lot of good for this university, and the fanbase will forever be grateful for that, but his stubbornness and “my way or the highway” attitude has cost us a lot of big games and driven away a lot of high caliber athletes. It sure would be nice to still have Huntley-Hatfield, Walker, Burns and Powell on the roster right about now.

I think that Uros was winning most of the opening tips when he was starting. And now Aidoo rarely wins one. It’s really odd since Uros isn’t much of a jumper while Aidoo swats away a bunch of drives to the rim. Uros must know how to time the ref’s throws and steal them.

Not really; he’s not very good. He’s one of the least athletic 7 footers I’ve ever seen and it’s not like he’s a freshman. He’s pretty terrible around the rim and level of talk isn’t backed up by his play. All that in context with who his coach is and it’s pretty clear why his minutes have disappeared.

There’s some truth to what you are saying but I appreciate when he catches the ball 7 ft out he bullies his guy and backs him down. 7ft out ON is shooting a fade away and the others are pretty much useless on offense

As far as a posting up offensive player Uros is clearly the best of our bigs but there is no rim protection and teams go right to work driving to the basket as soon as he comes in. He's not exactly Mr Rebound either for his size. I would just turn the center position over to young guys and be done with it. It seems like Rick is real close to doing just that.

May he should spend more time rebounding, scoring, playing defense, and practicing shooting free throws. If he would do those things , he would be a playing more and we might have won three of the last four games we lost.

You don’t think that he spends hundreds of hours working on those things?

Apparently it is not enough. I think they practice well, but lately do not perform as well during the game. As I have stated before, I have seen/heard Barnes yelling for the players to take the open shot, but they continue to run the clock down have to shoot a hurried shot , turn the ball over, or let the the clock runout. I also realize they are playing without 2 of their starters. Uros should not see the floor unless there are no other players available. He is more interested in jawing they playing basketball. If he was playing well, scoring, rebounding, blocking shots and hitting free throws, let him jaw all he wants. Until he starts plain well, keep him on the bench. Just my opinion, but I am sticking with it.

Ridiculous. I don't even have the energy to say much more than that to this post.

He's not any better than Boomer Herndon.

We need to feed him more. He is good inside but we throw up too many threes. I think he can score 10-12 if we feed him deep inside. His playing time has been cut alot for Aidoo. Aidoo has his strengths as well.

I like feeding the post also, but UP’s inability to make free throws limits his opportunities.

Don’t have a clue what “ballerina ball” means, but Uros is good on O when the opponent plays man to man D and doesn’t double team the post. When he can get solid low post position and there’s enough spacing for him to dribble once or twice to get his rhythm then he hits that little hook off the glass at a very high percentage. IMO
