Can we simultaneously believe that Iran is threat enough that they must be reckoned with, while also believing that they are so scared of us that they would choose to retaliate with no casualties?

I don't think both can be true.

Obama signed a bad nuclear deal (surprise, surprise), and Iran was cheating, so why not?

Looks like Trump handled it correctly. Iran made sure they didn’t hurt our people. They had to respond to save face, and not get rocked, this was the way. Trump gets to not respond without breaking his promise. So if this holds give the admin credit. But I know many of you can’t.

In june 2019 it was speculated that Irans claims are true and they have significant amounts of 20% enriched uranium for their "research reactor" which they of course built in their densely populated Capitol of Tehran.

Normal reactors for power use 3.5 to 5.0%...

Weapons grade is 90%...however...once 20% purity is reached, there is little work in removing the non radioactive matter to enrich it to 90% for warheads. It is very likely that they already have 90% "yellow cake" uranium by now. Once they have it...all that is needed is to perfect a warhead and start testing. Further advanced tech would be needed to reduce the size of their design enough that it could be put in a cruise missile...since they have no bombers etc to go drop a Hiroshima style "fat boy" huge warhead.

They are close. They wish Israel dead but know that Israel has both nuclear weapons and the means to drop them on Tehran

The next few days will be very interesting.

Back channel negotiations with US to relieve sanctions and concerns over civil unrest.

"leaked" intelligence to US of Soleimani plans and location.

designed retaliation and subsequent stand down.
