US may have killed Quds Force Commander Qasem Soleimani

Props on the astute explanation.
I guess it's all just a very bizarre coincidence then.
and didn't we just have two consecutive years were repubs controlled everything? Interesting.............
Yes. I said you'll find period of time where Republicans have exploded and contracted deficits, as have Democrats.

I know you deny it, but your partisan, "I have to man my battle station" mindset really clouds your thinking. You should think about discarding it. It's quite liberating. You don't have to contort yourself into tortured explanations to defend "your side" anymore because you don't have a side.

I have never denied viewing things through a partisan filter. I am fully aware of that fact, and that knowledge allows me to make the necessary adjustments.
Kind of like if you know the sight on your gun is a little to the right, you compensate by aiming a little left.

By the way, I can't keep up with everyone, are you a Trump supporter?

No, I'm not. Didn't vote for him in 2016. However, to the hysterics on the left, I probably do seem like a Trump supporter to them. I don't view myself as a supporter of any political party or individual politician.

Why view things through a partisan filter is my question. You really should try not to, seriously. Why put yourself in a mindset where you have to compensate or adjust your aim? It's like being able to watch a football game stress-free because "your team" isn't playing. You just view reality for what it is and you don't have to defend a team. Defend a set of ideas or principles, sure, but never a political party or politician.

It would be interesting to keep our oil and gas for ourselves, stop dabbling in globalism and world price setting/gouging, and then see who finds it necessary to worry about Iran and the rest of the sandbox. But that's just me; I'd like to see us control what our own little part of the world and let others take are of their parts. Stop worrying about parts of the world we can't change or control, and deal with our own problems, but we have to send globalism to hell to make that come true.

I would like to see us out of the ME but in no way think that if we completely left the region Iran and their surrogates would leave us alone.

Anyone have updates on the "war we were being lead into?"

Yes, the Magic 8-Ball that the yes men rolled across the nursery to trump miraculously landed on a response that perplexed him into backing down.

Thank God for Mattel.

I agree with most everything you say. Where you and I probably differ is with this:
If I prioritize and weight the ten issues most important to me and then score them on party alignment, I score about 100% on the democratic side and close to 0% on the republican side. If my beliefs and priorities fell more in the middle, I certainly would fall more in the middle. I assume that if you undertook the same exercise, your scores would fall more in the middle.

Leading into the Bush/Gore election, I had a political conversation with a co-worker I respected and admired (in her 50's).
I couldn't grasp her position and asked her what issues were most important to her. She listed environmental protection, gun control, a woman's right to choose, and education as her priorities....YET....she was voting for Bush. That was quite the epiphany.

The Libertarian Wing of the GOP is ready to break ranks it seems.

According to Trump, they are human scum.

"The Never Trumper Republicans, though on respirators with not many left, are in certain ways worse and more dangerous for our Country than the Do Nothing Democrats," Trump tweeted Thursday. "Watch out for them, they are human scum!"
