US may have killed Quds Force Commander Qasem Soleimani

We all ( well anyone with a brain ) knew the propaganda was going to start coming out . This is where it starts to get interesting .

You all have been asking why he was in Iraq. That response seems reasonable. Then put that together with US intelligence downplaying to Trump just who this target was...

This narrative makes more sense than anything that has come out so far. I doubt if Trump pulls the trigger on this if he really understood the significance of Soleimani.
Sure that's why he had those other terrorists with him. It only makes sense to those who want to believe this alternative story. Not very believable story that it is, but you go, boy.

So, what now? Do we pull out of Iraq and let it fall into chaos again for us to have to go back to down the line?

If Iraq is serious I wouldn't be surprised to see our forces redeploy to Iraqi Kurdistan. You know, this could the best chance to become independent. If Iraq pushes us out and descends into another failed state the Kurds could come to us with an offer allowing US troops to be stationed there if we in turn recognize their independence.

But then the "sources" that mentioned Trump bragging to his exclusive friends that something big was coming couldn't be correct..... Because he didn't realize the significance.

The left really needs to get in the same page and get the narrative together.

Everything I said makes sense. You explain to me what group of people would be celebrating Soleimani's death in Syria.
The FSA who is fighting Assad whose azz is/has been propped up by Russia and Iran, with our poor dead general, the number one Iranian in charge of those forces from Iran helping Assad in Syria. You bet the FSA forces in Syria would be celebrating his "untimely demise."

What's the purpose of posting this?
You said they were "Alleged". They are also very active in Idlib Province. I posted it to show they are real, unlike your fantasy.

The crowd celebrating in the referenced tweet are waving flags of the FSA.

This, those chemical weapons were trained at them by Assad, he had control of nothing at that point, Assad was a puppet of the Iranians and Russians at that point. And now Trump has killed the top Iranian military leader, and angered one of Russia's main allies. Trump did this, the same guy that colluded with Russia. He sure is acting against Russia's interests.

I'm not a Trump supporter, but none of this makes any sense. None.

Tell you another theory I heard yesterday that I'm not buying. Allegedly, there is a story being floated out there now that Soleimani was in Benghazi during that embassy attack in 2012 directing the action. Now this makes no sense to me because it was known at the time that the weapons used in Libya were being shipped to Turkey and then were being staged to support the efforts to overthrow Syria/Assad. Syria and Iran are allies. Why would Soleimani willing work to help in the overthrow of Libya when he knows that those same weapons and resources will then be used again in Syria?

I don't know if I buy this or not but if they were to be used against Assad it would benefit the interests he represents if this operation became public knowledge, it would be shut down

It's too bad you have this thing called tenure... when you can't fire someone, it fosters laziness.

Cheezits forking rice...

TENURE DOESN'T MEAN A PERSON CAN'T BE FIRED.

It just means due process has to be used. And if an administrator has done their job, it's a simple process of checking the right boxes and stapling the documentation.

Not sure what to believe, but when times are tough, I support my country and our military men and women. I pray for their safety. No idea if Trump did right or wrong in this, but the same applies to the actions of every POTUS, regardless of party. Decisions are made, action follows, then you deal with the consequences. How many questioned Obama when he ordered we invade a supposed ally to kill Bin Laden without their knowledge? That could have turned ugly too, but ultimately I think he made the right decision. Maybe Trump did too. How many lives were taken by this general's orders? Not just American lives, but innocent lives? Maybe the political blowback is worth taking this man off the board?

They’ve been protesting and many have been murdered through government crackdown. Have you not been paying attention? People have been “standing up” prior to this ordeal. Get a ****ing clue.

You are still continuing to miss the point. Iranian citizen perception of Trump and America matters, whether you want to believe it or not. We can’t pretend to act like their liberators through attacking the regime, while simultaneously making threats at innocent Iranians and their cultural sites. It’s an idiotic statement, it’s remarkable how you can even defend this from a strategic perspective.
Not entirely true, because today's liberators are tomorrows occupiers. Personally i don't want to 'liberate' Iran because when it is all said and done they won't appreciate it. So they need the threats that if they don't get off their ass and help, we won't care what gets broken. 'Innocent Iranians' what does that even mean? Are they the ones that will sit back and let Americans fight and die for their freedom? Well **** them.

So you tell us how far we should take this then.

I'm agreeing with you.

How many times have we "liberated" a country then sat back and watched them screw it up?

The left isn't who stated that Trump didn't realize the significance. That came from a Russian representative. Was she speculating? Possibly. But it makes more sense than anything coming out thus far. Again, I'm no Trump fan, but I believe Trump was played by his advisors/Deep Staters to hit this target specifically for the purpose of escalating a war in Iran. Everything Trump has done thus far, for the most part, been somewhat optimistic that he would avoid war with Iran until recently.

That is exactly who I said was celebrating...the FSA and/or ISIS would be the only ones celebrating in Syria. Not the average Syrian.

I don't know if this is correct but I did read that today's vote was non-binding and a further vote is expected to make it binding. That said if we really want to keep troops there this won't matter no matter what the Iraqis say.
Because we're respected again!
