US Military Intervention - Haiti

I always think of Haiti as the VOODOO country. Haiti does not even have electrical power on a constant basis.

When you fly over the island at night, the divisor line between the DR and Haiti is crystal clear. Light ... and dark. And it is a distinct line

That is a problem. Monroe Doctrine v2 is maybe in order.

No...

If a country doesn't want to help themselves, why do we need to get involved and do things for them?

As stated in the other thread; Haiti has all the tools necessary to build their country. We do not need to get involved in yet another country that doesn't want us there nor will do anything to help themselves and only sit there with their hands out.

I always found it fascinating that one side of the island was prosperous and the other side was a sh!thole only separated by a mountain range.
I’m looking at taking a vacation in that region and have just been flabbergasted at what a mess Haiti is compared to its neighbors. In fact, all those island countries could be making bank if they could get their acts together. It’s mind boggling. I think it’s a combination of corruption, stupidity, and excessive hubris.

Just to be clear, do you feel the same for Israel and Saudi Arabia?

Too many destructive minorities that either don't know how or don't want to nation build. This is a Haitian culture problem like many other 3rd world countries that don't know how to tap into it's natural resources to pull themselves up because of tribalism.

It's their government. That's the problem. The government is in the way of progress for all these countries. When basically any level of corruption is possible, there is no hope.

When do we start holding our own government to a higher standard as individuals even when it doesn't benefit us ideologically?

We've had the world shutdown over a virus with a 99.9% survival rate, an election stolen from under our noses in broad daylight and the govt coming out to acknowledge UFOs... nothing would surprise me at this point.

lol

WATCH: Looting in South Africa as Former President Begins 15-Month Sentence

Looting broke out in several cities in South Africa this weekend after the country’s former president, Jacob Zuma, began serving a 15-month sentence last Thursday for contempt in relation to an investigation of corruption during his tenure.

The metropolitan areas of Johannesburg, in Gauteng Province, and Durban and Pietermaritzburg, in KwaZulu-Natal province, saw looting and violence as police struggled to maintain order, and the army was called out in an attempt to control the ongoing chaos.

Videos of the violence and unrest circulated on social media.

But no money for Maui and East Palestine...

The US is preparing a UN Security Council (UNSC) resolution to authorize Kenya to send its soldiers to Haiti. Washington believes Nairobi can aid Port-au-Prince in restoring order to gang-controlled territory. The Joe Biden administration said the American taxpayers will foot the bill for the deployment, and US soldiers will train the Kenyan force.

Blinked went on to pledge $165 million in military assistance to Port-au-Prince and Nairobi. "[The US] also announcing an additional $65 million to further professionalize the Haitian National Police and strengthen its capacity to dismantle the gangs and to safeguard communities," he announced.

"[The White House] intends to work with our Congress to provide $100 million in support, and our Department of Defense is prepared to provide robust enabling support – including planning assistance, intelligence support, airlift, communications, and medical support."

Blinken noted the White House previously provided Port-au-Prince with over $120 million in security assistance.
