Best team since 1992

Carmelo is an absolute beast.

Lebron, Kobe,
Jason Kidd, Michael Redd,
Howard, Stoudamire............man it's just sick

and incredibly inspiring

Held Barbosa to 4 points against Brazil the other night, and looks like Argentina is the only team that may have a prayer........but it ain't happenin'

USA, USA, USA!!!

Trust me, the other countries besides Argentina and at times Brazil are awful

why?

There's no way dude. This team is just about as good as that 92 team and they are way more physical.

It's fun as hell to watch right now.

Argentina will be handed their hats by a substantial margin.

As to the '92 team, this team ain't even close.

actually they are close

over time, we tend to overrate teams

in 92 Team USA was playing what would be equal to 12 year olds now

Team USA now is playing against their fellow NBA teammates
They are bigger, more physical, and more athletic now

I'd like to see Charles Barkley n Scottie Pippen try and guard Dwight Howard, Amare Staudamire, or Lebron James

I don't think this team is close as good as the 92 team. Even though I never got to see the 92 team. But they're the best, but they'll find a way to lose somehow.

They are a very close comparison

Every is saying that

I'm not alone in my opinion

This team is more talented than that team from top to bottom

in 92 we had freaking Chris Mullin

I mean nuff said

You guys don't understand what physical Genetic Beasts Lebron, Carmelo, Howard, Kobe, and all those guys are today....
even the guys they are bringing off the bench would destroy guys like Pippen, Mullin, Barkley, Malone

Nobody ever claimed Mullin was a great defender, but the other 3 guys would do just fine in today's game.

No one on that team in 92, especially not the guards...could go up and get a rebound, bring it down...go back up, and slam it home over 3 guys
this year's team is sick

They wouldn't have to since they'd all have inside position and none of them ever missed shots anyway. Besides, Karl Malone could box out a dump truck if he had to.

USA is shooting the lights out from 3, so they aren't missing much at all

I remember 92, but I've never had the bias for that era like so many others have. I've never understood it.

it comes mostly from people who say

"I don't watch NBA anymore"

but they seem to be the experts on what the game is like these days

There definitely are some who like the 92 team just for the sake of nostalgia, but having seen both, while I think this is definitely the best national team that they have assembled in years, I don't think we'll ever see anything like the '92 Dream Team again. That was just a golden age for the NBA.

it was....

but the NBA is now an international game

it wasn't back then

If this year's team continues to blow everyone away...then I think what they do will be considered more impressive than the 92 team beating all those scrub teams

I'll grant you that. There's no doubt that the competition is much stiffer now that it ever was in 1992.

This team of beasts still has one decent defender in Kobe and a bunch of shoot first dunking types that play no D. The 92 squad shot better, passed better, rebounded better and had Jordan.
