USA Today: Kiffin is a liar

Didn't Al Davis call Kiffin a "flat out liar"?

Turns out he was Nostradamus!

Kiffin can win at USC because Pete left him alot of talent. Kiffin left Tennessee nothing. How many of Kiffins recruits are still on this team. I think they are all seniors.(what's left of them) Dooley was left a mess.

To be fair, He was asked if Rich Rodriguez should have voted USC #1, he said he wouldn't if he was him, not that he, himself wouldn't vote them #1.

Right. The folks that run the coach's poll ought to be ashamed. Kiffin's actions have been taken out of context and now it makes him look like he was lying about it all- until you read what he actually said. As much as I dislike him, I don't think Kiffin is the one in the wrong on this one. Then again, to a certain degree Kiffin kind of brings this all on himself. Whereas other coaches or people might be given a benefit of the doubt, Kiffin's past actions brings about obligatory assumptions of guilt of being a liar. Still, that's no excuse for what the folks that run the coach's poll have done here- they've allowed personal vendettas and petty personal politics into the fray and it cheapens the integrity of the poll in my opinion.

He may have meant to say "If I were in Rich Rod's position, I wouldn't vote USC #1."

What he actually said as "I would not vote USC #1."

There is a pretty significant difference.

But it was in response to a reporter asking if what he thought about Rich Rod voting USC #1. He said, "I wouldn't vote USC #1," but he was clearly responding to that question about Rich not himself. I don't like him as much as the next guy, but I clearly see where this was confused.

recruiting talk at SC is utter crap. The team has recruiting according the broken public rankings at the top of the chart for over a decade, but has sucked for the past 5 years.

Totally agree. The correlation is too strong to suggest otherwise. It's as if the USC staff prints off the latest Rivals/ESPN/Scout prospect rankings update and goes from there.

Why does this upset people? Why wouldnt a coach vote his team #1 if deserving of it. They will be playing in the NC game against more than likely LSU.

If anything shows he has balls and wants the target on his back. Most coaches wouldnt admit they have the best team for fear if they lose a game, then fans will say underachieved.

I don't have a problem with him voting his team #1. If he thinks they are #1, he should put them there on his ballot. But he shouldn't publicly say that he wouldn't vote them #1. His PR makes him a tool.

agree....it sounded like he was putting himself in other coaches shoes and saying he wouldn't vote USC #1 if he were them.

Since he is the coach at USC, he fully believes his players and team are the best....why think otherwise.

I think a guy that has had the success he's had and can surround himself with the coaching talent he keeps, will always be successful in the college game.

He's an elite offensive mind. He can recruit against anyone in the country.

I think anyone could be an elite recruiter while head coach at usc.
