Even if he didn't plan the incursion itself, I think he knew it could happen and was probably hoping it would. He and his aides were actively monitoring these groups and knew violence could occur and he was not going to stop it. After all, he needed deniability in the end.

The attempt to stop the steal, aka overturn an election and remain in power, is basically textbook definition of a coup. Yes, he attempted a coup

Dude, if Trump wanted a coup, he'd still be in the White House checking out Melania getting out of the shower and sipping a Diet Coke...

Well, probably a Diet Pepsi now since Coke went all social justicey and stuff.

"Arsenal" šŸ˜

I see one rifle and a 22 handgun. Where's the massive list? Sorry but I'm not counting "battle gear" from an article talking about unregistered ammo

The most ambiguous term of an time for law enforcement is "weapon."

He knew violence would occur? Then what happened since it didn't materialize?

I don't think Trump "planned" the incursion into the Capitol. I think he hoped that his supporters would go and make a lot of noise and he hoped that it would intimidate any member of the Congress not on his side.

I DO think that once it happened he was fine with it. Relished in it. Acted too slowly to tell people to cut it out just because it fed his ego. You can debate what level of moral responsibility he bears as a result, and politics of course infects that discussion so its kind of pointless.

The notion that Antifa had any role in it is just plain f'ing beyond stupid.
I personally was fine with it because I thought it about time those elitist members of our government got a taste of people's outrage with them and I liked seeing them have some fear for a change.

It was inept because Trump and his goons are the most incompetent politicians in the history of the nation and the organizers are inbred, Qanon, Nazi empathizers. The goal, aka stop the steal, was pretty obvious.

Find a new therapist or up your meds.

These people watch old women get beat in the street outside their shops and don't bat an eye during a righteous SJW protest. But lord if you actually protest against the people in control, break a door and steal a podium, you are throwing a coup.

Sorry that you don't like the definition of the word coup?

Doesn't sound like much of a coup if only 7 people were arrested with weapons, that's like an hourly thing in Chicago.
"In all, police recovered a dozen guns and thousands of rounds of ammunition from seven people who were arrested before and after the Capitol riot"

Here is another version from one of your "trusted democratic news suppliers"
Stun guns, 'stinger whips' and a crossbow: What police found on the Capitol protesters
From your article

Leslie Grimes and two fellow antifa members drove to Washington from Michigan to counterdemonstrate during the Trump rally. According to one of Grimes' friends, the group walked around for a while but returned to the car after Grimes was roughed by some Trump supporters.

As the trio were getting into the car, they were surrounded by officers who said someone had reported that they were seen "putting weapons in the trunk," according to a video of the encounter posted on Facebook.

One of the three denied that there were any weapons in the car, but officers found a handgun in the trunk.

You know leftists are full-on rubes when destroying the property and disrupting the lives of random normal people (including dozens of deaths associated nationwide) is considered a 'protest' but generally flexing societal nuts on Congress, which has horrific approval ratings and is largely the cause of our national clusterfluck is 'violence' and 'rioting'.

I think thats probably what he had in mind? Also do you really think Melania lets him watch her get out of shower? She slept on a different floor and and clearly hates the man.

You're telling me that 4--5 deaths plus 140 injuries doesn't count as violence... Oh yeah let's not forget they fashioned a noose to hang Pence. Nothing alarming about that at all. Keep on downplaying.
We're the deaths and injuries from direct violence? Hard to categorize a stroke or an allergic reaction as violence isn't it?

Real noose or a nascar noose?

You beat me to it. Of the 'five deaths' the NYT claims were caused by Trump, they've already retracted one and three of the other four were health issues.
