If Heup doesn't do something with Martinez, he will get all three fired
after next season.

I have no major problem with T B, but Martinez will get him fired if progress
isn't made in the secondary next season.

His defense has shown improvement in every year he's been here. We are top 30 in total points allowed, 3rd in the SEC. Top 40 in yards allowed, 4th in the SEC. 70th in passing yards allowed, 8th in the SEC. 26th in rushing yards allowed, 4th SEC. Overall, he's fielded a top 5 overall SEC defense with 2 games to go. It's been enough to win some games but our offense hasn't produced consistently. Defense definitely had lapses but has been consistent in improvement.
Texas A&M and PSU average more offensive points per game than us. Their not offensive juggernauts
Thats all good but against one of the softest schedules we could have. Yes we are slow in the middle and backend of the defense but holy hell our fundamentals are broken, penalties because we are undisciplined not only that but the 3rd down calls are trash. He isn't worth more money, good coaches don't let young talent ride outside the QB when the older guys don't get it done. Hadden alone saved the secondary for their small area of improvement.

Who do you think is calling plays and setting these bs alignments? I agree Martinez could be replaced however when your Boss is calling plays that require a 10 yard cushion that is worrisome

This may be true, but you get rid of the subordinates first if you want to keep your job.
That's why I say TB will need to get rid of Martinez if he wants to keep his job. This is
TB's achilles heel just like JG was at one time to another coach.

Banks is also directly responsible for the S play which has not been good at all. He coaches them and its even weaker than the cbs

Are we getting beat on athleticism or are we getting beat on fundamentals and play calling?

That’s all you need to answer at this point. If we get beat on athleticism after 4 years, then he can’t recruit.

I’m far from an expert but seems like we are getting beat on athleticism in the secondary while our most athletic DBs are on the bench. Dee, Matthews, Gibson. But athleticism doesn’t always translate to good cover skills. See Evan Berry. So I’ve decided to just trust the coaches. As long as our defense continues to improve year over year, we should be pleased and remain patient. Progress is key.

Or playing a zone defense where no one has a clue...Not a clue...

Nobody triggered here. Just baffled everyone still thinks him and martinez are any good. Banks is a bit better than Sal Sunseri was. The defense has looked completely unprepared several times the past few years, halftime adjustments are seemingly non existent
You didn’t watch a Sal Sunseri defense if you think this defense is anywhere close to that.

IMO Banks has been ok. But CLEARLY Saturday against Mizz was NOT his best performance. If Josh thinks he needs to stay or go I’ll trust his judgment on that for sure.

Sorry, but if you watched the Bama game, you would have known that there were numerous holds on the D-line in the second half that weren't called. For example, on their first TD pass in the second half, Baron had gotten around the blocker and the blocker had his arm around Barons neck holding him back from behind so their QB had time to make the throw. If that is not a blatant hold that wasn't called I don't know what is. I think I remember seeing that Bama had averaged having about 75 or 80 yards in penalties per game coming in to that game, and they had only 1 procedure penalty for 5 yards in that game. Not much the D-coordinator can do about that situation.
Get out of here with that officiating crap. I have learned on volnation that officiating has no effect on games.

Really wish I knew more about football and then I would know ...Is he bad or is our talent so depleted that he has to play the scheme he plays ..I'm thinking he has to play that way ..Next year I think we will see a new scheme and frankly it will be decided by how much better our offense will be ..This year I think he played a certain way because the offense wasn't gonna be able to score so much

I suspect you are correct. At least that's what I've chalked it up to.

Banks’ defense isn’t going to beat a ranked team unless you have a situation like last year when we score 60 ppg. Which means the D isn’t good. Year 3, and i don’t see talent improving. Next year could be worse. I don’t understand the love affair. We haven’t had major success in the portal. How many years does he think he has?

I’ve watched every single game since I’ve been old enough to decide to do so. I said he’s better than sunseri was but he’s definitely not leaps and bounds better

And nor will the offense be good enough to beat any ranked teams if it can't score more than it has been. The offense has dropped significantly statistically because we don't have the same talent. The defense has improved in some areas and dropped a bit in other areas, but it is far from bad, for the same reason as on offense. Defense is still ahead of schedule considering where we started 3 years ago. This team is still ahead of schedule.

This program is being rebuilt. It was not a plug and play situation, and winning has many games as we have in the past 3 years has been pretty incredible, so this staff will get more time.
