USC/Oregon St.

my senior year of HS we made the playoffs for the first time in forever (and maybe ever?). Our first game was against Morristown West, which we won. We then played Cocke County.

A buddy made a poster that read "We had to get through the Trojans to get to the Cocks" and somehow was never asked to get rid of it or quit holding it up. Of course, we were getting trounced in the second half, so I don't think anyone actually cared.

how long ago was this, because Cocke County has been HORRIBLE in recent years. We (Morristown East) went to Cocke County my senior year. Our student section has body pant of "Cocks suck" and their student section had "Hurricanes Blow"

'98 football season. Cocke County was lightning fast that for East Tennessee.

that may be so to a degree. But Oregonians like their football. I don't think top team would/should travel anywhere on a Thursday night. Talk about a way to get the opposing fan base and players more fired up than ever. And that would hold true whether you are in California, Oregon, Tennessee, Florida, Texas or Oklahoma.

Nationwide, uncontested, prime-time-on-the-East-Coast coverage is a rare commodity in the Pac 10. Heck, if you're Pete Carroll you probably liked this game before it started because it's a chance to beat the absolute pants off somebody in front of every pollster in the country. The good SEC teams play on national TV all the time; this kind of coverage isn't unusual enough to them to warrant inconveniencing the fans.

Being a college football fan, I feel obligated to cheer for Oregon State. However, I hope that if they pull it off, we don't get 10 new threads about how we should give their head coach a call.

USC plays primetime all the time on ABC. If they aren't primetime, they are the late afternoon game on ABC. I'm not buying into your theory.
