SOS took the whole field out of play when he called that last timeout. Just dumb.

Not taking up for Spurrier, but none of the players knew what to do. I suppose there was a play called in yet got miscommunicated somehow. It happens... now the play calling turned out to be dumb but understandable considering who would've though that double coverage would've been on more than just Jeffery.

So if everybody is confused, you just signal to go to the line and spike the ball. You're only going to get 1 or 2 more plays anyway, so burning 1st down is meaningless. At least if you've still got the timeout in your pocket you can work the middle of the field and try to run it into the end zone.

And it's no coincidence that there was double coverage. Without the timeout, Kentucky is basically playing Cover-3 or 4 since they know the ball has to be thrown into the end zone.

Looked like too many players on the field is why the timeout was called. Why would you spike the ball with 1. Possibly too many players on the field and 2. After a play that stopped the clock with the player that caught the ball and went out of bounds.

That's the only plausible reason I can think of to call timeout. Hindsight is 20/20, but I really think if I was backed into a corner with no timeouts and 11 seconds to go, I'd run the FG team onto the field.
