Malik Jackson transfers to Tennessee - WeAreSC Forums

This board is a bit different but check out the comments about Malik Jackson coming to UT; such as...why not go to a winning school or a BCS bowl winning school or even a ranked school.

I was supprised and thought you guys might want to hear some of the smack the west coasters are dishing.

Who cares what they have to say. We will play Oregon who will mostly likely win the Pac 10 IMO and after that game we can start the smack talkin to the west coast or shut up and go on about our business and ignore what they have to say lol

Why do they keep saying that 2011 early enrolles can count against 2010 scholarships? Any truth to that?

My favorite was this gem: "Sorry but what a nimrod. Transfer away from coach o to a team that has no chance of making a bcs bowl or even being ranked. Just sorta funny. If your gonna transfer at least go to a team that will make a good bowl and doesn't suck"

Yeah, because USC is going to be cleaning house in those bowl games the next couple of years. oh wait...

for the most part they are acting like they are glad but the rest are upset at how they only have 3DE's left! haha i love it lets take the other 3 just for fun!

IIRC, early enrollees can count toward unused scholarships from the previous year. the max allowed in a class not counting EEs is 25. so for example, if we signed 23 one year, we could sign 27 the next, as long as 2 are EEs... correct me if im wrong someone. the limit counting EEs is 28 though if im not mistaken.

This is the missing point in the NCAA sanctions. As bad as they would be for some schools, they may not be as challenging for USC.

2006 was the last year that USC took more than 20 commits. So, with some attrition, I believe they are well under the 85 max. The level of athletes they have been able to recruit has been the difference - quality depth with fewer scholarship athletes.

If USC can load up the 2011 class with good EEs, it will go a long way toward helping them weather the next three years.

In that case, I suspect we'll see some decline in their performance. But their drop-off may not be as great and their rebuilding as difficult as some expect.

BUT, this hinges on how many EEs they can get.

You understand that these transfers do not count for this year but rather against the year they were enrolled. That is why TN still has 8 slots.

this is something like the third time I've seen this same complaint in the past few days. The layout there is essentially identical to this site. You do realize there are 3 different ways to view a thread, right? Linear, Hybrid and Threaded. It's standard vBulletin stuff.

Click the "Display Mode" dropdown to switch the view if you don't like the layout.

Mike, hoping you or anyone can clear up something for me. How many Seniors on the UT roster are on scholarship?

I'm confident that there will some attrition and potentially another addition or two that will effect the overall scholarship total. But, I'm just curious how many actual scholarships UT will probably have for the incoming class (EEs and NSD signees combined)?

Was going to post this month's ago. Their replys in a thread killed me. if they get 2 responses to a comment in 24 hrs it would be a miricle. Weak fan base. Fair weather will do that to you. Some of our fans headed that way. CYA.

the max allowed in any class is 25, unless you count EE's that are backcounted from the previous class i believe. max is 28 with them.

Who cares what USC is saying? They need to sit out there and worry about how they're going to fix their situation when they are able to sign a full class and get back in the post season. I'm surprised Lane hasn't come out and said we paid the kid off or something classy like that.

Hey MikeHamiltonFan, I'm pretty sure your right on the 28 scholarship limit but how did auburn sign 32 this year? do they only take 28 and send the other 4 to sit out a year at a smaller school or not give them a scholarship their freshman year or something? wouldn't that be breaking a rule if a team signs 32 players and gives them all scholarships? i hope you know this because i've been wondering how some schools now days have been over-signing like crazy. does anybody in here know the answer to this? i would appreciate the help if anybody knows what the deal is with over-signing.

I can remember a lot of lean years for USC . With these sanctions and the fallout, they are going to have some more. See how they talk in a couple of years. They still think the PAC-10 is a dominant conference too.

I read something at one time about how they skirt the rules. They are counting on some non-qualifiers. If they do all qualify then they would ask a few players to gray shirt a year. (Wait a year for their scholarship)
