Used cars in Nashville

I appreciate y'all's advice. We still have our Sequoia, which my wife drives primarily. This is just going to be a drive around town car. I figure if I get it cheap enough and it goes out on me, then I'll just trash it and buy another.

SDV, just give it until May. You are looking for a classic buy here pay here car. We have been wiped out because of tax time. Let the market reset, because right now it is supply and demand at its finest.

Why not just lease. Same principle as what you're talking about with the disposable car for in town driving. It'll have a warranty so you won't get burned on repairs.

I don't want a monthly payment. Just want to pay cash for something and be done with it. Plus, Dave says leasing is the worst possible thing you can do

It's always been said that the best time to buy is during the winter months with crappy weather. There is a psychological aspect to it and the sellers are more likely to work out a better deal than in the warmer months due to a higher demand.

My wife and I are doing Financial Peace University. We are selling one of our cars to get rid of a car payment.

I want to buy a used Honda, Toyota, Nissan or something similar just to get me to and from. Want to pay no more than $3,500. Just want a "beater"

Anyone know a good place to look in Nashville area?

Having no car payment is great. The first car I bought myself was a used 2007 Passat. Have had it for almost 7 years, paid off and I drive like 5 miles a day.

We also got rid of most tv stations so cable and internet went from 175 to 85 a month.

Follow the 50/30/20 rule to get on track.

Just google it and will inform you. Trick is really making sure you don't slip in wants as needs.

Buying a beater car doesn't make sense either. If it's that bad just get a bus pass or an electric scooter. Borrowing money is not a bad thing. Borrowing more than you can repay is the problem and Dave Ramsey has gotten rich off of people who don't know where to draw the line.

Cars depreciate so much in value as soon as you get it off the lot. Lots of good used cars for under 5k but just have to search for them.

This is the type of at that I am looking for

I have the same model Honda Accord and I love it. When I bought it I paid $1K 8 years ago. It leak so much oil that I call it self changing and I do occasionally have issues with it, just changed both front drive shafts and wheel bearings. But I wouldn't get rid of it for nothing. I love it and would drive it anywhere.

For those saying that you need credit, No you don't, I have an uncle with an 8th grade education that never owed on a loan. He also never made more than $40K in a year and he just save his money. Now he is a millionaire. As Dave says "live like no one else, so you can live like no one else." Just wish I would have heeded that advice earlier.
