Here is where the problem lies- if you play in the MWC any accomplishment is null and void in many UT-Knoxville fans worlds. That's why it's hard to have meaningful discussion here. USU fan: "He's a good player" UT-Knoxville Fan: "He's only good because he plays in the MW. He'd be nothing in the SEC. We're in the SEC- remember?" He (Fackrell) is still an NFL caliber linebacker no matter the competition he currently plays.
I've never seen Fackrell play so I can't say wether he is or isn't an NFL caliber LB, but there's proof that guys that play out west can be and are great NFL players. Take Kaepernick, Duke Ihenacho, Orlando Scandrick, Robert Turbin, etc. Most of the time those guys don't get the credit they deserve until the get to the NFL because people look at who and where they played in college. That being said, we are used to playing against the best of the best, week in and week out. That's why the SEC has the most players on NFL rosters. I'm not saying that MWC guys are any less talented than SEC guys, i'm just saying there are a lot fewer.
We've had NC State fans that came in here last year chirping about how good David Amerson was, and if you don't know how that played out all you have to do is go to YouTube and type his name in. So, that's where a lot of this "he's not as good as you think" talk from some is coming from. So if Fackrell is as good as you say he is, then me and every other Vol fan on here will give him the credit he deserves, but until then it's probably going to be as it has been.
