Any list of TN Football greats has to include: Beatie Feathers, Chip Kell, Murray Warmuth, Austin Denny, Bob Johnson Gene McEver (sic), and Charlie Rosenfelder. All were All Americans multiple years.

Hyatt had a top 10 (all positions) season in school history, but I don’t think he’s a top 10 WR.

And that’s not a knock on him at all….UT has just had a lot of great WRs.
Yep. Hyatt is a burner and scored a bunch of TDs...he was often wide open....but the toughest catches made last year were by Keyton, McCoy and Tillman

Top 10 Receivers
1. Carl Pickens
2. Marcus Nash
3. Jalin Hyatt
4. Jauan Jennings
5. Joey Kent
6. Robert Meacham
7. Alvin Harper
8. Peerless Price
9. Cory Fleming
10. Donte Stallworth
@bray2milton
Your top ten. I see at least 3 that aren't actually top ten. Where's Seivers, Morgan, Harper? Anthony Miller? Tim McGee? McGee is top 5. See, I wouldn't put Jennings in the top 20

Hey, it's your list so that's cool. Lots of fine receivers have played here

That's a good list. We've been blessed with many great receivers over the years. It's very tough to choose just ten.
Pickens and Nash were fine but they weren't the best we've had. I'd put Sievers, S. Morgan, and C. Wilson instead of Hyatt, Jennings, and Fleming.

Jalin Hyatt was terrific last year but I don't know about top 10 maybe if we're going by 1 year wonders yes he definitely is top 5. If we're going as a whole career no where near top 5 and truthfully not even top 10 it's ever what angle your looking at. Stanley Morgan and Willie Gault definitely top 5 add Marcus Nash and Tim McGree to that also. Lots of WR to go through and compare,Stallworth was really good also in his time here.......

Doug is a hall of famer....ain't no 1b with that guy.

Doug also played at 258 pounds at 6'8" going up against O-linemen that weighed at most 260/270 lbs. He never played against 300+ lbs offensive linemen, not even in the NFL at that time. I'm not sure if his measurables would translate in the modern era. It's like asking if Ted Hendricks (who I'm a huge fan of btw) could play middle linebacker today at 6'7 240lbs.

All three of those lists are guys I have seen play with the exception of Johnnie Jones and Condredge Holloway who my Dad used to talk about and I have seen a few throwback videos of.

I like your #1 QB. For the college game he's the best we've had. I wish he stayed for his senior year.
I'd put Holloway 3, Hooker 4, and Bobby Scott 5. Maybe the Swamp Rat 6. If Dobbs could throw with any accuracy he'd be top 5.

Arguably the best DE in the league is Nick Bosa at 6'4"/266. Don't kid yourself, Atkins in his prime could be pulled directly into this time and be an instant terror. Now contemplate what that frame would look like with today's nutrition and training.

Yeah it's tough when comparing different eras. It's hard to say which athletes would translate to the modern era and which would not.

It would be interesting to see what DA could do in the modern era with the benefits of modern training/nutrition. Admittedly, he played before my time, so I never got to see him play live. I'm just curious if he would have the explosiveness to get off the LOS against the O-lines in the modern era.

You see the size of those hands and arms? This is before nutrition coaches and weight lifting. He was a freak of nature. If he came along today there’s no telling what he would be. 58F844B6-EA70-4223-B1F3-219056FE65C3.jpeg

Just to give you an idea of the athleticism involved he actually came to UT as an All State basketball player and "dabbled" in track with a 6'6" high jump. To put that in perspective that jump would have won Bronze at the '52 Olympics. The superlatives just don't stop with that guy.
