It can't be stressed enough how great of a job Butch Jones did in rescuing Tennessee's APR. When Butch arrived on campus, I'm not sure there were many people who believed it was possible for the Vols to avoid APR penalties. It was a gargantuan task that Jones and staff managed to pull off. Bravo, coach.

Additionally, the Tennessee football team increased its single-year APR score to 962 in 2012-13, the highest APR mark in the history of the program and a significant improvement from the 909 posted in 2011-12. This allowed the multi-year APR for football to rise from a 924 to a 932, allowing the program to avoid penalties for failing to meet the minimum multi-year APR standard of 930.

we saw that there are some serious penalties for even missing the mark by .09% (loss of practice days, postseason bans) and the team and staff should be commended.

No doubt, CBJ and Staff are champs when it comes to academic progress. That has been proven. When shopping for a new football coach, we should remember some of the negatives that were being said about UT attracting a "high profile coach" despite our state-of-the-art facilities, storied tradition, and fanatic fan base. Along with money being siphoned off by the university and program having huge fiscal problems was the issue of the APR which was judged by some to be the most condemning. And all Butch did was come up with a perfect 1.000 for the first semester and he keeps pounding that Rock. While nothing but contending for the conference championship every year and winning a national championship every (insert your preferred period here) (yes, I know every year) will satisfy VolNation, we should really congratulate CBJ's/Staff leadership and the athletes themselves for overcoming a monumental hurdle.

Big time win for Butch. Other coaches can definitely cross that off their lists of negative recruiting topics now

Team APR...yet another part of the program that Dooley failed miserably at. Great to see CBJ do such a nice job cleaning up that mess in such a short time
