Jones answered bluntly when asked by the Times Free Press if he anticipated any staff changes after the season.

"No," he said following Tuesday's practice.

loyal to a fault ? we shall see

North not practicing
Freshman receiver Marquez North (ankle) didn't practice Tuesday, and Jones said Tennessee will use a "receiver by committee" approach to replacing his reps and production.

sounds like North won't be playing come Saturday

Continuity is certainly important at this stage in the Hambone Experiment which started in October 2008. I'm not happy with the two primary deputies, but we have to keep them.

However, they have to demonstrate significant Year Two improvements with a lot less experience in key positions.

I think we'll see more improvement on offense than defense next year. I like our QBs and WRs being in the offense another year, and hopefully a TE will emerge.

I just don't feel great about our defense at this point... losing a lot of experience on the line and we're not sure what we're gonna get at LB and CB yet.

That being said, I pray for a healthy, productive offseason and spring.

Considering that some of them have been with Butch for 6 years and know what he's about and what his system is and how to run it effectively, I think he starts to show improvement on both sides of the ball.

That defensive line is experienced in losing and getting blown off the line. Time for some fresh faces up front.

We have to hope that alot of the young, inexperienced freshmen that are coming in will make a big impact fast.

Normally freshmen don't make a big impact fast but bUTch has some serious playmakers on the way in so we hope they'll work hard and learn fast.

Always remember that these are the coaches that recruited this great incoming class and alot of times a coaching change will lose recruits that commited to them.

I'm hoping for the same thing

I don't expect any staff changes unless CBJ hires someone else.

I don't expect my lights to come on unless I flip the switch...

I don't expect my car to start unless I turn the key (or push the button)...

I don't expect the food to cook unless I turn on the stove...

Sorry EBfan, couldn't resist lol. :peace2:

I still don't know exactly what happened. It's like a mystery.
I don't blame Butch for changing right now. Some of those guys have been with him for a few years and I never like knee-jerk solutions. It'll play itself out through next season. We'll see.
GO VOLS!

I don't think you should can an OC or DC in their first year of a new regime while rebuilding a roster. It's not like we are loaded on either side of the ball.

Defense looks better than last year (which I know doesn't say much since last year we had one of the worst defenses in UT history).

Offense has inexperience everywhere including QB position.

Could not agree more if he were to fire the DC or the OC after one season of a rebuild the perception may become that if you are a coordinator at UT you will only have one season to get results and if you do not you are fired.

Some of our recruits like Wharton, Hurd, Kelly, Brown, Medley, Bates, Gaulden, etc have to step up right away & I think they will.

North's not playing? Receiver by committee? I came away from the Vandy game believing that North is both the receiver AND the committee.

Gonna have to run, run and run some more vs Ky because, IMHO, we literally don't have another outside WR threat on the team right now. Pig Sweeps here we come.
