UT coach Butch Jones expects staff stability to continue

Interesting that if someone crticizes the coaches, not matter how objective that criticism is.... they are going to be attacked for being negative and all.

Those same folks, say stuff like this about the players but they're "positive".

Attacks at this stage of rebuilding are stupid and counter productive. Not only that, but it does hurt recruiting in the worst way. If things don't in improve in 2015, have at it, but don;'t try to tear down another new coach who looks as if he will be the best coach since Fulmer's first years until he has his chance with his recruits. Lord knows we have a talent depleted roster and we will not survive another quick stupid change of coaches for another three years.

I think we had these same kind of threads during Dooleys years. Always the players and never the coaches. When Dooley was here, they blamed Kiffin and now that Jones is here, they blame Dooley. What is weird they even still blame Fulmer.

I was probably one of those

Not again

It doesn't matter when you let someone go if he's not the right person for the job.

Is CBJ incredibly loyal... or just stubborn? Either way, he'd better be right.

:lolabove:He was forced out at Bama and took the running backs coaching job at Texas

Just looked it up and you're right. I thought he went there to be the OC and AHC. Apparently he got that title later.

I went back and read the story about all the changes Saban made after year one, and one thing that stuck out was when Saban said if sees he had a shortcoming, he will address it immediately!

Of course he's going to say that. It would be moronic to state otherwise at this point even if he was planning a coaxhing change.

Jones answered bluntly when asked by the Times Free Press if he anticipated any staff changes after the season.

"No," he said following Tuesday's practice.

loyal to a fault ? we shall see

North not practicing
Freshman receiver Marquez North (ankle) didn't practice Tuesday, and Jones said Tennessee will use a "receiver by committee" approach to replacing his reps and production.

sounds like North won't be playing come Saturday

this will be his reason he fails at tennessee.

I don't think our staff has a shortcoming. We all knew the offense wouldn't be lighting it up this season, and the worst defense ever has made some improvements. I'd give everyone another season to see what they can do.

North's not playing? Receiver by committee? I came away from the Vandy game believing that North is both the receiver AND the committee.

Gonna have to run, run and run some more vs Ky because, IMHO, we literally don't have another outside WR threat on the team right now. Pig Sweeps here we come.

No receiver will ever make a reception ... if you never throw it to him. Croom, Carter, Johnson, give em a chance, Josh Smith too. And whatever happened to Blanc? Is he injured?

You realize, that KY has the worst pass defense efficiency in the SEC, with 2 INTs for the season, vs. 20 TDs allowed?

Please, do mix up the running and passing against them.

Considering that some of them have been with Butch for 6 years and know what he's about and what his system is and how to run it effectively, I think he starts to show improvement on both sides of the ball.

He's got trust and know them well .

Have you said 1 positive thing about this coaching staff? I get the fact that Dooley burned you and you looked like a fool telling everyone that Dooley needed more time. They are 2 different people and 2 different situations. And it is just not 1 thing that is the problem. We've had player after player bust for 3-4 years, no decent recruiting year after year, no decent wins year after year, coordinator after coordinator and scheme after scheme and yet you seem to think it all comes down to coaching. Where is the Senior leadership? Read the Give him Six blog. I'm sure the coaches told players to miss their assignments or get blocked all the way across the field. We play in a physical league and players need to get stronger and faster and if they don't have that talent in the first place ie they run a 4.8 40 and the guy across the line runs a 4.4 40 you have a problem and when you have multiple guys like that then you have really big problem especially when other coaches can see it a mile away. Add to the fact that the DL gets no push up front and the QB has all day. You seem to be rooting for this coaching staff to fail so you can say to everyone "SEE I TOLD YOU THEY WERE GARBAGE!" Me on the other hand I hope they succeed because I am sick of watching Tennessee lose whoever the coach is.

sjt believes you can scheme your way out of those deficiencies and he is not coming off that position. Fair enough I suppose, he's entitled to his opinion, but you're wasting your time trying to explain what most of us that know this game see with this group of players.

i can say the apr scores and the recruiting are 2 positives for jones. i would also say the negatives out way the positives right now. the staff is terrible, and even if the recruits we are getting are studs I have a real hard time seeing the staff doing much with them. jones seems to be committed to the staff and that is fine, but at the end of year 3 if we are no better than 6-6 it will be time for him to go. i really don't see with this staff we will ever be over 500. i guess that shows how much faith i have in jones, but it is how i honestly feel. he can talk all he wants, but it didn't help him on the field at all this year. we should have went to a bowl.

Lol we should have went to a bowl?

Which team should we have beat? Auburn? Missiouri? Was USCjr a game we were supposed to win also? Find 6 wins on that schedule.

Unfortunately, the previous 6 years were against inferior competition and after being set up by Kelly.

He coached teams that had middle of the pack talent in there respective conferences and did well at both schools while improving recruiting at both schools. The inferior talent argument doesn't really work when the talent across the board is the same. Some of our starters this year would at best be second string players on other sec teams.

am i mistaking or does that not get us 6 wins.

You said we should have been a bowl team. Implying their are 6 teams on our schedule that we should have beat. Name the six teams we have more talent than.
