I will give it a 50% chance, provided the offense is smoking with no let downs.Thoughts?

I like the optimism. As a percentage chance to win it all, it would be very slim. You can probably break it down to 8 buckets of teams. The top bucket having the best chance, and the bottom bucket having no chance. Since UT is in the SEC and has several questions they would fall in the 3rd bucket.

Even teams in the top bucket have a single digit chance to win it all. There are too many variables, including luck, that come into play for winning it all.

We have too many negatives going against us this year.
1. New WR
2. 3/4 new secondary
3. iffy d-line
4. crappy special teams(it's has been every other year so why not this one),
5. need a big improvement out of the o-line
6. inept coaching.

#6 by itself is almost too much to overcome, but with the rest I say no chance.

Let me help:

saying we're 50% to win it all means you think we should have 1-1 odds.

Saying it's a 10% chance is ridiculous, too. You're saying we should have 9-1 odds.

I put it around 3%.

Name one D1 team that does not have similar issues. This is college, teams change every year.

Your idea that we have inept coaching is the most ridiculous thing I've read on this board today. It's only half over, so there may be another winner later.

we have too many uncertainties this year. next year could be a different story. i'm not saying we won't have a decent season, but a 50% chance to win it all???? lay off the hash.

If there is 120 D-1 teams (That number could be wrong) then we (all things considered equal) have .0083 chance of winning it all.

I'm reminded of the knight from Monty Python and the Holy Grail who loses all his limbs in a sword fight and says "It's just a flesh wound."

They have their problems. Don't fall for the media hype that will surround these guys. Sure, they return a lot of talent, but this a group that lost to UCLA and Oregon St. last year.

And they have the Mustain circus coming to town to crash their party.

I don't think it's 50%, not even 25%, but it is possible, I guess. We'll probably win 8-9 games no matter what, and then there's a chance we win 1-2 more. With a lot of luck (arkansas 98) we get the 12th win. It's possible...buuuut not likely.

Pay attention. It's not media hype. USC is GOOD.
